With luck, this will take you to see what I just gave to my long-suffering German grammar teacher. If not, it's the last photo in the album. Roberta in D

I love the way the blocks look like they are sitting on top of the quilt top. Lovely piece.

How lovely, Roberta. So bright and cheerful - and seasonal! I have yet to make an eight-pointed star; I really admire them. This one has worked so well. . In message , Roberta writes

I really shouldn't read here until I've at least had a few sips of coffee. Why are there so many Ritas here? Now I get it. Okay. My name is Rita too. That is a very lovely table topper. Polly Rita

Beautiful table topper, Roberta. I love the fabrics, but your quilting is the best part - all those feathers! She'll be thrilled, I'm sure.

Ohh, that's lovely, Roberta! Have I mentioned lately how much I love feathers? ;) Rita is sure to be bowled over by this one. :)

Lucky, lucky German grammar teacher! :-) Both the design and the quilting is just gorgeous, Roberta. I bet she was thrilled.

Curiosity question--do you live in northern or southern Germany. I ask because I have a pen friend (acquired during my high school German class many years ago) who lives in near Bremen. Granted, my German is very limited, and I found her hard to understand sometimes. However, I met a woman in the last few years who grew up in southern Germany. I found her much easier to understand. When I asked her about it, she said that people in the north had a decidedly different accent, kind of like people from the Bronx. ;-) Just wondered if you'd noticed this?

Howdy!

Schön ! Nobel, einzigartig, fabelhaft. Love the feathered herzen in the corners. Cheers to you, and to Rita, for all her work. ;-P

Pardon my mistakes; I can do the accent better than the translation.

Beifall! Frohe Weihnachten!

Every region of Germany has a distinct accent, at least to other Germans. Wonderful Rita is from the north and insists that Germans there speak a "purer" German. DH (a German) can go on about it at length. We live in the south, and he comes from the south too. He says that northerners with their local dialects closer to Dutch (Platdeutsch) had to learn to speak "proper" German, so they speak it

150%. Southerners, who of course "always" spoke pr>Roberta wrote:

Thanks so much for your enlightening response, Roberta! I had to laugh about the concept that northerners speak a "purer" German. I'm sure my friend near Bremen would agree. :-)
