Finished stash top; with pic

I've been wanting to make a sort of scrappy Irish Chain for a long time; finally got a chance. It actually ended up very different from my mind. I had thought to use scrappy greens for the background and random flower colors for the chain, but I realized that I had no where near enough compatible greens to do a scrappy green quilt.

Yes, "stashy" is a better name than "scrappy". I didn't use anything that couldn't make at least one 10x10 plain block and a chain block.

Lovely, Susan! I'm not usually a huge fan of "scrappy", as you may recall, but the chain in these blocks does a wonderful job of unifying the whole. It's just beautiful! :)

I have been admiring Irish Chain in my quilting magazines, but it never would have occurred to my to use my scraps for that particular pattern. The chain motif just jumps out amidst all the colors and patterns. Congratulations on a beautiful quilt!

Gorgeous quilt! I've started a scrappy Irish chain with cream backgrounds and the chain in whatever is to hand. You've inspired me to get a move on with it - thanks.

After all these years of quilting,I've never made an Irish chain. And with a name like O'Reilly, you'd think otherwise! Never occured to me to do one scrappy. Maybe in batiks?

What a wonderfully fun quilt! I've never seen Irish Chain done except in a formal manner. This is lovely. (It doesn't hurt that you used lots of purple--my favorite color! ;-)
