How can we get to the remailers?

What purpose does a remailer have? If legitimate people want to send something

-- they send it under their own name. There has to be a way to shut down these remailers who allow people to send out anonymously.

This is so frustrating!

I hope there is a special place in hell for such perverted individuals -- people who have to inflict their perverse interests on the rest of us.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

thanks for the vent...

PS -- Outlook Express eliminated both of those posts -- so they must be coming from the same source.

PS -- it makes me doubly mad when it comes under the guise of one of our legitimate posters.... fortunately -- we know each other well enough to know their name has been hijacked.... but still... there is no excuse for that.

There are legitimate reasons to go to some lengths to preserve anonymity online. Probably 99% of the people who make use of the reamilers and anonymous nym servers do not abuse them. As usual it is the one percent that are abusers that give the things a bad name.

As NightMist says, there are legitimate reasons for their use....

One of the most obvious is participating in discussions online about personal medical problems---you may not want every idiot you know (or your relatives, or your boss) to be able to google on your name and find all your medical problems.

What gets me about it is I tracked down some headers --- if the ones I saw were accurate, the remailer does not consider trolling and flamewars to be REAL abuse and therefore won't deal with it....I'm trying to get google (my newsreader) to put pressure on the remailers to consider this REAL abuse and deal with it. I don't know how much luck I'll have, but I'm trying.
