Ideas?

Take a look at this pattern. I have all the colors in solids and tone on tones. Do you see a table runner in this? I really don't have time to do any appliqué if I can help it.

Anything jumping out and grabbing any of you as far as patterns are concerned?

Got a wedding in 2 weeks and this is the bride's china pattern. Would love to do a table runner for her.

Thanks, Cindy

I'm afraid I don't have any ideas right off, Cindy, but what an awesome gift that would make!

Yeah, and it's not like I haven't had about a years notice, Nancy! I only get my good ideas at the last minute.

So make a solid light orange square with the orange stripes in strips lining the square - put three of those in a row. Use the blue and other colors for the half triangles between the squares. Instead of applique, just quilt that design in the center of the block. That way it echoes the theme without being the theme or drawing attention.

How about Carolina Lily, Cindy? It's not a million miles away - and can be paper pieced. . In message , teleflora writes

Lt orange squares bordered with darker orange and, what - yellow? stripes. Bordered with that bright blue and rose half triangles? And use one of the greens as an outside border, maybe?

Oh that is so cool and I LOVE the idea of using the flower pattern as the quilting motif in the center of the squares.

Gotta draw this right now.

I thought of this block immediately....

in the appropriate color of stripped fabric, especially a yarn dye, this wouldn't need any applique if you included the blue, maybe in the center of the block. I think it would look very cool with the china. Last time I was at the local Hancock's, they had a lot of yarn dyes.

Fabric paints.

Order some of those napkins for the fabric:

Cut them up and re-design into a runner. Pinwheels, Churn Dash, something simple. You could use the napkin fabric to put flowers in a basket:

finish piecing w/ your own stash fabric. Since I'm hung up on those napkins (because they work!):

't withstand the frequent moves. Only have a saucer and teapot left. they literally flaked apart. In-laws bought us the entire set and a few other in-laws added to it--teapot, mixing bowls, etc.Would LOVE to find it in Melamine..don't think I would break it so quickly:)Love your idea of using the napkins for fabric:) Butterfly

If you have plains and TOTs - how about string piecing something. Table runner is always nice, but I like individual placemats and serviettes.

Howdy!

Napkins make good quilting fabric. So do tablecloths; make great curtains, too. ;-)

Pfaltzgraff melamine includes Yorktowne:

M-i-l was appalled that I didn't choose a "fine china" pattern; never have. Gene collected the Spode BlueRoom set. I buy what I like, usually on sale, like the cheap gold-rimmed set from Tuesday Morning; everyone thinks they're "good" dishes.

Ragmop/Sandy---wondering what Cindy's doing about this project... ?

pretty blue and pink flowers, and yes, it had napkins, which could then only be found at the Lenox factory stores. However, our lifestyle is not conducive to GOOD china, and we needed money, so I sould everything back to Lenox - the dishes, glassware, accessories....ah well. We have a lovely blue set of dishes with gold accents that we now use for special occasions. They are microwave, dishwasher safe, and fairly durable, which is a plus since we have young children .

Mother was upset because she thought I would have held onto the dishes for our daughter...probably should have since she's such a girly girl (this pattern was NOT my first choice, but Mother vetoed that one...
