Introduction

I have been here a couple of weeks and thought I better introduce myself. I learned about this group from gals on some of my other groups and they told me how to get to it. I had no idea.

I am in my mid-fifties, married to a wonderful guy who is a truck driver. 2 sons the oldest (Jim) and his soon to be wife(Cissy) just had a baby girl (Breanna) on the 23rd of July. She has a 1/2 brother (Cissy's) Dallas 5 and two half-sisters (my grandgirls) Cheyann 5 and Becky 4.

My second son (Joe) and his girlfriend (Kelly) are going to have a baby girl (Stella) any day now and she will have a 1/2 sister Chloe who is

  1. Yea, I know complicated. I have already told you about my 4 legged kids.

My DH and I are in the proccess of trying to move just as soon as we can find a place. We are looking in the Southern Illinois area.

I like to do all kinds of crafts and right now I am into quilting. I take turns on what I do. Due to limited space I can work on only one craft at a time. That will be changeing as soon as we move. Get the impression I REALLY wanna move.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. I am also on Yahoo IM and MSN IM.

Welcome! I have friends from the Marion/Carbondale area. Are you going that far south?

I have 3 sons... and no grandbabies yet. Oldest is in grad school... #2 loves being single in Chicago and #3 is a special needs kiddo -- so I just have to hold on a while longer!

So what quilty projects do you have underway?

Welcome to your new cyber home! I hope the move happens soon and easy for you. I hate moving so much (after a very perepetetic childhood with the RAF!) that I've lived here for 22 years! I needed more space so we built another room last year. Hm... Fun! I now have cutting space for wedding dresses! :)

Welcome, Kathy, glad to meet you! I hope the move is easy and you find your new home soon. I've moved several times in my adult life, and found each move to be a blessing in disguise. Somehow it's easier to get rid of "stuff" when you move. You can really focus on what is important enough to take with you and what you can let go. Just make sure you don't let go of any fabric!

I haven't been able to quilt lately myself, but that doesn't mean I don't dream about it and plan future quilts! So when your move and my overtime are over with, perhaps we will have time to really get to know one another.

far south? DH has found a house near Benton (anyway it starts with a B) That we really want, problem is haveing trouble getting lady to let us know if she wants to do anything with it or not. She has until this Sat. to let us know. Then we will have to look else where. (crying) I really want this house 5 bedrooms and a big room that would be perfect for quilting. Earl said it is really big and also big enough for a long arm.

Carolyn,

My stuff has been in boxes for so long I don't even know what I have anymore. Even the stuff DH got me for Christmas last yr is still in boxes and until yesterday in a warehouse, now in the reefer. One thing about it my kitchen will be almost new when we move. As far as fabric, I have it all in egg boxes (you know the ones the stores get their eggs in) they are the perfect length for the bolt boards that fabric comes on in the stores. Told DH that NOTHING else will go in those boxes. That way I won't have to look for them. Get the impression I am gonna be quilting and unpacking at the same time?

Kathy, we just moved to So. Ill last year. We rented the first year and then bought a house. We moved into our own place in April. I live in a subdivision off the 15/13 in St. Clair county. I'm very happy with our house, our neighborhood and our neighbors. The housing market is slowing down and a lot of people are lowering the price of their home. If at all possible, I do recommend renting first. It's a pain to move twice but man, it sure paid off for us. My husband gets to work in about 15 minutes, we're fairly close to all the things we need yet we still have lots farms and undeveloped land around us.

Hope you guys get lucky in your search. I'm very happy where I'm at. Within driving distance of St. Louis but far enough out where it's still quiet and beautiful and affordable.

Welcome to the group!! I totally understand about the space thing!! We just went through a move to get more space as well (only ours was because of the kids, currently 5 and 2, not my hobbies). Good luck on finding a new place and happy quilting.

Howdy!

Welcome!

Southern Illinois? Whereabouts? What have you learned about that area? Please share your impressions (my email is as posted) and whatever else, because when I was there a year ago and fell in love w/ the forest, hills, valleys, wine country, farmlands, and just about everything else. ;-) And it's close to the Big Quilt Show in Paducah, Ky, just across the Ohio River.
