Massive photo frustration (not OT, has to do with quilt photos)

My son dropped our camera. The new, expensive camera that is onlyshortly out of warranty, which wouldn't have worked for accidentalmangling anyway. I went online and got a live person in chat sort ofsetting and we went through troubleshooting the problem. It was verydifficult as obviously this person's English language skills weredifferent. Not lacking, just different. So finally, after nearly anhour, what I am left with is that it is less expensive to replace a$250 camera than to fix it. I asked what I should do with the old,mangled camera and the answer was: 'we would suggest disposal'. Inother words, throw the thing away.So I'm hot under the collar, first of all because it really gets mygoat to have to throw something away like that. No chance of fixing itbecause they don't train people to fix cameras any more. My husbandsays to get over it and throw the thing away, but I just can't makemyself toss it into the garbage along with the soup can and tea bags.The other problem is that I can't take quilt photos. I am sending offthe quilt to my friend tomorrow with no photo record. And I am so veryproud of this quilt. Well, trust me, it's really nice. Not stunninglike the quilts KJ makes and quilts, but nice. Bright, happy, withlittle circles of different sizes quilted all over and a brightappliqued butterfly in one corner.I see no camera purchas in my near future, having just bought one inthe past year. Grrrrrrrrrrr. And no, I can't make my son buy areplacement. Wasn't his fault. Long story. So I am a bit down in themouth because I am going to finish up three or four quilts in nextcouple months and have no way to show them off or make a permanentrecord. Did I say Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I will probably use one of thosethrow away kinds and make hard copy photos, but usually those camerasdon't allow for close ups of details.So that's where I am and why I'm quiet and brooding. That and the factthat my DH has the flu now and I've got another sore throat and I'mtrying to sleep...

I get better photos from a disposable 35mm than from a digital camera any day. Look for a Fuji or Kodak disposable and get at least 400 speed film. Then get the photos developed somewhere like Photobucket where you can download the digital images before the prints reach your mailbox.

There isn't anything anyone can do with the broken camera so you can toss it or let it clutter your home and mind. Debra in VA See my quilts at:
