Off to Lizard Land Tomorrow

Hi Guys, Well, I am off to Lizard Land tomorrow afternoon. Can't wait to get to the mountains and enjoy the cool, dry weather! I have two quilts lined up (Egyptian quilt for DD and the Autumn one for me), four different needlework projects in the works and a jacket to make for myself out of kimono silks! I've been collecting the kimono fabrics for about 1 1/2 years and there will be 16 different fabrics in the jacket -- 2 for each front, 4 for the back, 2 for each sleeve, 2 for the shawl collar and 2 for the cuffs! I'm still thinking about whether or not I will quilt the jacket

-- not to make it warmer -- it's for spring -- but to keep the different weight silks more manageable. I probably will even if it's just to some really lightweight inner facing -- I think the whole thing will hold up better. Anyway, I think I have enough stuff to keep me out of trouble and off the streets at night -- LOL! The quilt for DD is my first priority as it will be a Christmas gift that she does NOT expect :-). OOOO, reminds me that I need to pack the camera to take with me so I can get photos once I get stuff finished. I hope to meet up with Pati and anyone else who happens to be in town during August & September. I'll be off line most of the time as there is no phone at the cabin. I'll be down to DD's about every 3 weeks or so and will be able to get e-mails & check the group through Google. Hope everyone stays well and has a great time the rest of the summer :-)). Oh Heavens -- loads and loads of lizards reside in Lizard Land (aka Arizona, specifically Phoenix) :-). Reno (Black Cat) used to bring them home to play (she considered home a "no-kill" shelter for lizards). At least once a week poor DH had to try & catch them -- sans tails of course -- LOLOL! Roberta there are a lot of different kinds of lizards in Arizona. Most are small, harmless and do a lot of good. The geckos that live on our front stoop keep the black widow spiders at bay, for example. Arizona is also home to the Gila (pronounced "He-la) Monster which is a fairly large, very poisonous lizard.

Hey, it's a desert.......

Pati, > Sounds like all the fun anybody could stand! And we'll want pictures.

Oh yeah. Chuckwallas, and rock lizards if nothing else. They hibernate in the colder weather, come out and sun themselves and catch bugs when it warms a bit.

Pati, > But up in the mountains too? Sorry it's OT, just curious.
