I too wondered about 6 things every morning. All I have plugged in all the time is a heated oil air freshener

That's why I keep a small quilt at the end of the bed -- to pull up when over me when DH pulls the big quilt over to his side :)

Now hold on just a minute here, B'fly. Moving out of the hard floor rooms is one thing; nobody told me I had to move back! Polly

i too wondered what. heres all i could think of but i dont have any of these i use every morning. is one washes their hair everyday (is that good for the hair) you might need a hair dryer, heated rollers, hair straightener (all three? who knows). is there now an electric eyelash curler? shaver maybe. uhhhhh, what else can one use every morning in the bathroom that requires electricity. the power bill must be huuuuuuuuuuge. do all these sit on 'wait' mode? then they use power all day as well even when not in actual use. that is an enormous waste of energy from just one home. what about the rest of us? think of all the electric things we have and dont use most of the day. if those are left on standby they are using power. albeit only a small amount per thing but it adds up, especially over a year. one item can cost you an extra $20 a year. how many things do you have? how many clocks do we have in a house? on the tv, dvd, video, microwave, every bedside table, a few walls in the house, the stove, your cell phone, your wrist. i'm sure i missed some. time passes no matter what we do. do we really need to know at every point in time exactly what the time is? do we really need to use up all that extra power just to save walking into the one room you leave with a clock that runs all day, assuming you dont have one on your wrist. hell, turn'em all off and look out the window and make a guess at the time. use the sun/moon/stars and it is free and isnt wasting the energy the world is fast running out of. end of lecture for this morning. j.

BTW the battery backup power supply things are huge guzzlers. There isn't any reason to switch to the silly light bulbs and not really take a look at other uses. If Barry only has 4 years to save the world from global warming you folks are going to have to help him out. LOL

And by "Barry", I am supposing you are referring to our glorious new President.. that's charming. We called my little brother Dougie when he was little. We stopped doing that and showed him proper respect when he reached school age.

My utility bills are just fine thank you very much. And I don't use all of them every day, but some days I DO use all of them. It's like in my kitchen. About 4 times a year I could use a double oven. But I couldn't justify the cost to myself. I wish now I had done it.

Not if it comes unplugged, whether accidentally or on purpose. The USB cord from our printer often gets moved to go from one computer to the next, sometimes there might be another USB cable dangling in the same area (mouse, keyboard etc), I do label cords, but DH won't, which is really irritating when your under a desk, with the PC pulled out wondering if it's the black or cream but otherwise identical USB cable that is the printer!
Cheers Anne
It doesn't even matter if you use it everyday, if you have anything in a permenant or even semi permenant location where the cable runs behind something or to an outlet that if looking at you couldn't see the appliance, it becomes a useful timesaver. I usually label mine, originally everything seemed to be white and I used a sharpy, but as I acquired gadgets with small plugs, or black cables I switched to using a label maker, but I haven't had a session of actually doing it in a while, DH might laugh at me simply labeling something "laptop", but then with outlets usually being at floor level, I'm so often in the situation of wanting to plug something and there being two very similar plugs in the outlet and of course both cables end somewhere outside of immediate range of vision!
Anne
So what? You gonna just put a chair in there to just sit and ADMIRE the floors for a coupla years? I made my pretty enuf to WANT to be in there using it. Sure I get threads but they sure are harder to see on THIS floor than any I've had before. And I LOVE walking barefoot on it.even with the neuropathy, I can walk on it :)
Butterfly (and that's what I got it for---to walk on ; )
Oh, for Christ's sakes people get a grip!
I hereby solemnly swear that I only plug the things in while I am using them. I unplug them and PUT THEM AWAY when I'm not.
Cindy
Oh, for pity's sakes, Jeanne, when did that ever stop any of us. Don't be a baby.
Cindy
this is who i am. no one gets me. no worrys tho. j.
Howdy!
Good girl: 2 biscuits. Or a big ol' piece of virtual cake. ;-D
Cindy, I never had a doubt that you are a careful and conscientious user of electrical power & the accompanying devices. ;->
Btw, back in the semi-dark ages (1920s, 1930s) when rural electric was on the spread, companies were asked (begged) to come up w/ new appliances to entice those country women to demand electricity hook-up. Oh, how many women were scorched damn' near bald as a consequence.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the next little quilt is ready to be sewn; something fun and colorful ... as usual w/ quilts. ;-D
Cheers!
R/Sandy
Oh, Sandy, please can it be chocolate layer cake with chocolate frosting and chocolate leaves on top?
Cindy
Oh, I get ya. I'm just like ya!

I've lived here 10 years and I swear DH opens every top cabinet looking for a glass every single night. I can hear him from my sewing room. I used to yell, "Next to the sink".
I gave up. He thinks I rearrange things when he's not home.
Maybe I should do the label thing. That would look good, huh?
Cindy
Maybe a good thing someone could invent would be an instant heat hair iron that had 2 size curlers and a flat iron that could all be used interchangeably. That would make things a bit easier. Yep, Barry is the name the president used in college years. That is easier than the 'Oback' I called him for a while last year. His name all seemed to run together. He's my president so I can call him what I like it seems. I don't think free speech has been taken away yet! Around here we had quinoa for dinner to note the day.

have you ever sprouted quinoa? i read somewhere you could do that. i wonder what they taste like sprouted. i like most sprouts. mostly eat alfalfa/radish. dh isnt a big fan but will eat that one so we mostly stick with that. i put heaps of it on my sandwich rather than lettuce. an old hippy from the 60s/70s in sf bay area. i started eating sprouts back then....most folks then thot they were just too too weird. i recall well a trip north from SF to a place along the coast where we'd get clam chowder and sandwiches made with SF sour dough, bacon, tomato, monterey jack, and sprouts, then put under the grill. omg, that was heaven. i'd love to get back there one day for a big feed. also recall the Renaissance (sp?) Fair we went to there. what a trip that was. far out man!!! shrug, j.

DH thought I was crazy, when we moved to our small townhouse. I had lots of extra picture frames, so I packed them all in a large box to be stored in the garage. When we need a frame, DH checks the large label on the side of the box to see if we have one that fits, before heading to the store! SDIL works at home in an office filled with different computers, printers, etc. We picked up every colour of duck tape for her, and she colour codes every cable!
