ON and OT Sanity

When we retire, I told DH I want my own quilting/craft/computer studio - with its own power station!

I have a very large room now, but with the normal number of outlets for a standard bedroom. So I have to be careful how many "things" I use at any one time and on what side of the room they are on. If I use the iron at the wrong time, I blow a fuse and everything - including our phone system - goes down!

Now that we have our phones through our cable company, I have been extremely careful about how many "things" are used since it is not fun to get the computer system back up!

I had DH rewire the sewing room so the iron (12 amps) is on its own 15 amp circuit. Now the lights don't dim every time the iron kicks on.

Sometimes practicality and SANITY are better than looks. I've NEVER had anyone comment on the labels.......and I very seldom have had to 'get up and get someone a glass' when they wanted a glass of water. They can SEE where they are, get the glass, fill it with water, and return to wherever we are. Sure came in handy on my 'bad days'.

It can't hurt to try it for awhile. wonder if he'll see the labels.or if he'd rather ask about it.

Yes, and I've done that too, it just seems archaic to me that I am forced to place something near enough to plug into an outlet. Maybe there will be wireless electricity in the future and there won't be a need to judge how many outlets are or will be needed.

When David redid the basement apartment for my sewing, the electican insisted on doing the same. The iron/steam press is on a seperate, beefy circuit from the machines. Course, not even I can manage to use everything at once, but better safe than sorry I suppose.
