Madame Dicey has a wonderful wonderful how to measure page. It has almost all the same measurements I use, and close enough to how I do them as to make no never mind.
I sent the link to DD2 so she can measure yet another Kate, and then send me the measurements. Whereupon I will make a muslin and send it down to be fitted at a local shop, and then it will be sent back to me, and I can make a bridesmaid's dress that hopefully will not need more than hemmed. (you can bet I will use generous seam allowances though)
This is a good thing, especially since the only other way of doing this that I could think of was firmly rejected. DD did not want to chuck her future SIL out of the wedding party. *chuckle*
