OT news from the flooded NW

I am very happy to deliver good news from one of our own. Read below Karen, Queen of Squishies

Since I have no NG access right now, could you let everyone know I am OK? And lots of prayers for the people south of me who are still under 6-10ft of water would probably be appreciated.

Patti and Val have reported in okay . . . but it seems to me that we have more friends in the Washington Oregon area. Have we heard from everybody? Polly

I'm in Washington, but on the dry side of the Cascades. We got a huge dump of snow and then rain. Now we're awaiting serious coldd, but probably dry cold. Who knows. We suffered only slightly. My son went around a corner and hit ic e under the snow -- slid and hit a curb. The front wheel was bent pretty bad. We have the car back today. Out the $500 deductible plus another $500 for the rental car. Oh well, it's truly only money and none the worse for it. We won't go hungry.

I'm relieved to hear from my friends across the hill. I was worried.

So glad you have reported in, Sunny, and so glad you have your car back. I hope one day you can add a 'piece of truck' to your household. Here in the Swamp, we all have crummy old trucks for grubby stuff and for 'back up' in case ill befalls better transportation. My truck lost the Ugly contest, DS's won that award and mine's not exactly a 'back up' truck since the reverse on it has never worked. Trips and parking must be planned very carefully. We continue to hold you close in our hearts, Polly

I live just off of Hwy 30 between Astoria and St Helens. We got about an inch of snow and then the rain began. My home and family are good (got a little swampy.) Vernonia didn't fair as well as Clatskanie! From what I hear from our neighbor the town of Clatskanie had sand bags around the doors. I went into town yesterday and didn't see any thing worse for wear. It seems most of Vernonia's folks seemed to lose everything. My heart goes out to them and anyone else who were under water.

I'm ok! Seems like there are some floods very near here, several roads are closed in Woodinville. The traffic was bad out tonight, I don't know if that's because the few roads that are affects have managed to back things up or not.

Two of my sisters live in the Seattle area. DBIL took 1.5 hrs to get to work on Moday [normally a 15 minute drive]. They are all okay, at least my one sister says. The other one lives in a wooded neighborhood, so she may have some concerns about the trees. Last year she had a 200 yr old pine crash into her house.
