OT: -- prayers needed

A week ago Saturday I was sitting on the edge of a bed in a hotel room to put on my socks. The comforter slid... as did I and I felt the familiar SNAP! This was April 4th. Since then I've been in discomfort --but able to move slowly. I actually drove 3 hours to my Mom's and back.

However this morning -- it went out completely. Instead of going to the floor -- I was able to get to a kitchen chair where I sat and endured spasm after spasm (horrendous pain -- likened only to those last 2-3 labor pains). It took me 45 minutes to "scoot" the chair across the kitchen to get to a phone ... where I called DH who was just arriving on campus (a 50 minute drive one way). He turned around and came back home. I stayed in the chair pressing my legs against the floor to keep from falling off.

So now I'm completely immobile without DH and DS helping me to get up and get down. Please say a prayer that this clears up quickly. In the meantime, I'll have to keep Ryan home from school... as there is no way for me to take care of a new puppy... I can't take care of myself right now.

The pain is so unbelievable.... I don't know what else to do... but rest and pray.

Thanks in advance....

Oh Kate, Kate, Kate. I wish I was closer so I could help out. I'm so so sorry this has happened to you again. I hope you find something that will lessen your pain and alleviate the problem. You must have felt helpless while waiting for you DH to get home. Gentle hugs.....

Uh-oh, Kate. I was afraid of that. I kind of suspected after your bed slip/jerk that you might be in big trouble. You probably have pushed your body waaaaay further than you should have. And, like Kathyl, I wish I could come let you rest and love the puppy for you. So sorry, Kate. So very sorry. Polly

Oh, that's awful! I remember when my mom's back would go into spasms and she'd have to be in traction. Truly painful.

Prayers for rapid and complete healing on their way from Indiana.

Kate, can you make it to the doctor? At least for pain relief?

Praying for your comfort,

Kate, what does your doctor say? Would muscle relaxers help? I know that after I had a head injury and my neck was spasming like crazy I was very grateful for muscle relaxers. Please let us know how you get along and rest as much as you can.

Spent most of today in bed. Spasms are less intense and less frequent. I'm taking regular doses of ibuprofen and Flexeril. The doc called in a prescription for Vicodin to local pharmacy -- but can't get it until hubby gets home from work. Hopefully that will help, too.

Today is definitely better than yesterday... but still nowhere close to where I was before yesterday (which was nowhere near normal). Does that make sense?

Thanks for your kind thoughts and prayers. I will be starting Spine PT sometime in the next few weeks. Hopefully I'll get those muscles strong enough that I don't end up like this again anytime soon.
