OT, prayers please

Hi All,

Well I never imagined myself to be in this situation, but here I am desperately in need of some prayers and good thoughts. My breast biopsy came back positive, needless to say I'm a bit in shock and scared trying to process all of this. I have tests scheduled for Thursday and meet with the docs to find out more.

Many women have found themselves where you are now. I can tell you of a good number of friends and relatives who are long time survivors of this terrifying diagnosis. You will be in my prayers and I will send good thoughts for strength and peace to help you through the time ahead.

Of course you're shocked and scared. We'll be holding you close in our prayers. A word of advice to be taken seriously - do take someone with calm good sense with you when you have drs appointments. It's to hard to grasp all they tell you or don't tell you and you need an extra pair of ears. Polly

So sorry to hear of this blow, Irene. Don't try to absorb the whole picture at the moment. Note down all they tell you. I have found that, when I am scared, I think I am hearing things clearly, but I later don't remember much of it. A trusty notebook and pen/cil will help you greatly. Then you can think about each point as you feel able - even look things up if you feel up to it.

As the others have said, there are so many good results nowadays.

Golly, this is scary. We are sending the best well wishes and good thoughts to you Irene. I have to tell you when I went on the Komen walk a year and a half ago I was absolutely amazed at the survivors. Many, many years of so very many surviving women there. I was in awe of this group. Thankfully there has been so headway in treatment for this. Bigs hugs to you, Taria

Irene,

Your shock and fear are normal reactions. Others have given very good advice. Remind yourself every day that breast cancer is highly curable these days. Tell yourself that a cure will be the outcome for you. Take someone with you when you visit your doctor and when you have treatments. Bring a notebook with you. Write all your questions in it as they occur to you. Make sure that you or whoever is with you asks all those questions and records the answers. Without the notes you will forget at least half of what you hear. Ask me how I know that!

Best wishes to you for a full recovery.
