Jo, (((((((((((((((((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))))))))))))))))))) I am glad you got to be there with her when she went. It is a painful thing, but still comforting in a strange way. She was lucky to have a person like you as her own.

I know what you are going through my dear. I have experienced both types of pet loss. The ones where you make the humane choice for them and the ones where you're taken aback by unexpected shock. It hurts so bad...but the hurt fades over time and the memories remain.

We pet owners are all better for sharing our lives with the furry and finned and feathered ones. We can only hope that the animals are too also enriched by our presence...though we definitely get the better end of the deal.

Send too soon.

I ran a small sanctuary for babykittens for many of years, 3 years ago I had 10 cats (lots that were not adopted and stayed to live here) now I have only three left, 7 died in a span of 18 moths, a few from old age but also four 2 year old cats.......3 of them were diagnosed with FelV and Igor, my siamees died of FIP.........

I had to close the sanctuary because of the FelV.......

The 3 remaining cats are stil going strong and we hope they will survive but I never forget the hurt, when I read your story I cried because of your kitty and the thought of the last day of Igor's life........

The good memories will find its way and a smile will come back to you, but once in a while you will miss them like hell....

Take care........

Oh, Jo! I'm so sorry. {{{{Hugs}}}} From what you've written about Sasha over the years, I have a good idea of how much you loved her, how much she meant to you, how much she loved you. It's never easy, I know -- I'm still missing and mourning Tuppence, and tears are pouring down my cheeks as I read your message and write this. Everyone will tell you that you did the loving and merciful thing in letting Sasha go without further suffering, and I agree -- but it doesn't make it easier, does it? Let yourself mourn; as time goes by, the mourning will take a different tone as you remember more of the good things instead of the pain. I just *know* Sasha is waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge, playing with the rest of our QIs who are also waiting.

Tears from California Jo.

She sounds like she was a sweetheart.

Jenn in CA - still missing her non talkative Siamese Herky who died way too early at 7 in 85

It was brave of you to be there at the end - I've done it with my Bert, and its heartbreaking to see them go. I'm so sorry that it had to happen, I know how much you loved her.

The Rainbow Bridge? Definitely, in my book. She'll be there waiting for you.

I'm so sorry about Sasha, Jo. I know how hard it is to lose a beloved pet. But letting her go was the ultimate act of love. (((Jo)))

(((((Johanna))))) - It is so hard to lose a loving "friend". Our "lost-for-now" Q.I.'s will be waiting for us on the other side. And, somewhere, in due time, there is another QI waiting here for you - one that needs you as much as you need it. Hugs! ME-Judy
