OT: VERY OT -- but so proud I had to share!

Dear Hubby will be changing jobs in January... and I'm so excited for him. He is such a great guy (and EXTREMELY tolerant of me and my expensive/expansive! hobby).

The good news is that we live about 1/2 way between Ann Arbor and Lansing. So we don't have to move right away. This is a GOOD thing because the housing market in Michigan in in the toilet... big time!

Here are the details:

I guess this is kind of on topic... Michigan State has a quilt museum

-- so I'm hoping to become a volunteer and maybe see some of the quilts they keep hidden from the general public! If I ever get the chance to peek behind the curtain -- I'll be sure to share. For me... I'm still living on pain meds... waiting for the Docs to decide what to do with my C7 problem. I sure hope they decide soon!! If I skip the pain meds... I hurt too much to do anything.... and if I take the meds... I'm too far into La-La Land to atttempt anything. Grrrrr... I hate this!

Okay -- I do need to shower. That I can do... thankfully!

Kate, this is sooooo exciting- no wonder you are proud of your DH! WOW and congrats! I hope the docs get to the bottom of your problem and find something to relieve your pain- other than the pills. Is it possible you could use a lower dose during the day- enough to dull the pain but still keep you functioning? With my arthritis it took a while to get the right balance, but experimenting a little can sometimes do it.

I wish you both the best in everything!

WOW! Is *he* the man! :) Brilliant! Congratulations from me to him (and you, of course!).

Do! You have thousands of nosy quilter world wide peeping over your shoulder... ;)

So would I! Best of luck. (This morning I couldn't do much until the Arthrotec and 1000mg of paracetamol kicked in, along with what felt like bathing in Ibulieve gel!)

Hang in there Kate, the la la land side effects of narcotics vanish a long time before you become tolerant to that dose for managing your pain. If you take them regularly for two weeks, you'll start to notice the difference and a month and you'll probably be past that point. If you've found a dose that works for you, ask your doctor about slow release meds, unfortunately they aren't available for all the different meds, but if it is, most patients get better pain relief for a lower dose - I switched about 6 months ago and the difference in the total dose I'm taking is amazing and I need stronger stuff for breakthrough pain way less often.

Congratulations to Bob, that is quite a feather in his cap. I think it is really cool that you will eventually move so close to a quilt museum!! Good luck with getting the house prepared for sale. PAT

fortunately -- the new job isn't much further than the old job -- so we won't be moving any time soon. We can wait out the housing market so we can at least get back to where we can break even! So I have over a year - year and a half to get it ready to put on the market...

Unless any of you want to move to southeast Michigan... with the Big Three's problems... soon to be the Unemployment Capital of the USA.

Congrats to your DH! I know how the U jobs can get to be a long drawn out process. It's nice you don't have to move yet....especially with your current pain problems. I hope that gets resoved soon.
