I love, love, love that quilt! Thanks for posting the picture! I wish I could see the quilting up close.

The quilting is nothing to write home about. In fact, it's better seen from a distance. I just did a stitch in the ditch.

Wow - your quilt is beautiful - I love the colors and the meaning behind the design - wonderful :)

Just lovely, Joan. I'm very partial to quilts that use black to set off the other colors. If you get tired of it hanging on your wall, I've got a place on mine. ;-)

That's just gorgeous, Joan. My word you are doing some beautiful work. Those colours, with the black outlines are so vibrant. . In message , joan8904 in Bellevue Nebraska writes

Tell us about your fabrics, Joan. You've done such a marvelous job of getting such wonderful colors together - was this a medley of collections? your stash for years? have you raided every LQS and stash within 17 states? Just how in the world did you do that? Polly

I did the Peace Quilt as a block of the month from Homestead Hearth. I did use a few of my own fabrics to add the 'personal' touch.

What a beautiful quilt! I have done a search to find the pattern. Though I may not make the quilt, I would like to add blocks of cranes to a quilt that I'm making for my daughter. She will be very surprised - she is always giving me origami cranes. Thank you for sharing: ) Paulette

Great quilt! I know you labored hard over all those cranes!

Is there a pattern available for the birds?

There is a children's book called "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes." I used it when I taught 5th Grade a few years ago. We even folded paper cranes. I wasn't a quilter back then.

I'll be back teaching 5th Grade next year. Might be fun to make a much smaller wall hanging to go with that American History unit.

Thanks, Kay Ahr > is finished and hanging on the wall!

Duh!! I finally stopped gazing at the quilt and read your caption.

I've ordered it from an online shop where I used to live in Virginia. I try to support my local shops -- I used to be 'local" there!

FABULOUS! Happy Dance for you!
