Oh. Oh my goodness! What wonderful quilts. Thank you, Jeanne. I hope your Margaret can go with you and if not, I hope you'll go anyway. I just don't believe there's any such thing as being at a quilt show alone. Polly

my problem is that i'm not up to talking to anyone who might know me and ask how i've been. cant say i'm ok when i'm not. dont feel like telling anyone the details of this year..why ruin someone elses day. so i'd rather be with someone who knows and i can talk to her and dont have to go over it again. Margaret wont be asking 'how are you?' well she might but she'll understand better whatever i respond. might sound weird but its how i feel still.
7 months today and i feel like the world is moving in slow motion. much like if you're in a car accident and see it coming at you but can do nothing to stop it. feels really weird. j."Polly Esther" wrote ... i'd like to go but i will not go alone. i'd be sure to run into someone i know who doesnt know. dont wanna ruin someone elses day when they innocently ask 'how are you' and i'm not going to lie and say oh i'm just fine and dandy when i'm not fine and dandy. i could lie but i dont lie. and saying nothing when i'm feeling something isnt me either. doesnt matter if she cant go with me. i can still see the winners online afterwards no doubt. j.

What beautiful quilts! The owls were an unexpected treat :-) (Pauline Sharpe - 'Whooters'). I found the colors very striking on Rosemary Rush's "Variations on Tivaevae" (#711). Ahh there are so many beautiful ones that it is so hard to say which I like the best. It must be very difficult being a judge at a show like that!

But, darlin, won't you be just as apt to run into someone if Margaret is with you?
Sometimes we really could do with an invisibility cloak.

dont have a cloak. also cant rtfm, dont have one of those either. was already dealing with 'going out in public' issues. since march that has intensified. just being is hard to deal with lately. j.

I know, Jeanne. I wish I could do something for you to make it better, but I got nothing.
Just know I think about you every day and hoping you're dealing.

We were talking about this last night. Is there still really "meat" in mincemeat pie?

Not in commercial mince pies, but Hugh Fearlessly-Eat-it-all has a recipe that calls for it. I think this is it:

what is called hamburger in the usa is called mince here. we have beef mince, pork mince, chicken mince. mostly beef tho. cept that isnt the mincemeat in pies. that is raisins mostly but other dried fruit too. no idea why it is called mince meat. j.

Because it used to be a way of preserving minced meat through to Christmas. I have made some with beef mince in it, and very good it is too. My mum says it should be made with minced lamb, so I might try that one day too.
