Quilty doings

I'm still going strong on no-buy--I feel so virtuous! (In a self- confident, rather than a self-righteous, way.) Here's what I've been doing:

I got "Piece and Joy" basted and I'm about 1/3 of the way in the quilting:

No quilting last evening, though. I realized at 6 p.m. yesterday that I had signed up to host after church today. Our church has an elaborate coffee hour/lunch. One cake, a batch of brownines, two cold salads, fresh strawberries, a cut-up melon, carrots & celery & dip, cheese & summer sausage, and garden tomatoes. All set to go!

Labor Day is a big deal here. There is an outdoor pops/orchestra concert + fireworks tonight. Mayor's Prayer Breakfast tomorrow morning. Jubilee Days parade at 1 p.m. -- float lineup at noon. The library float (actually a pickup truck, lent by our landscaper) is position #19. There are 115 floats so being #19 is a very good thing. We'll have ice cream back at the library about 2:30.

Our town has a 3 day Labor Day Festival and part of Main St is blocked off for the many kiddie type rides and funnel cakes ( the owners are friends). There are lots of craft booths and the usual food sales. Lots of fun! Barbara in HOT Dry SC "
