Seattle

We'll be arriving in Seattle about 12:30 on July 14th, and staying at the Raddison at the airport, with the afternoon and evening free. We leave on the cruise Sunday morning. Is there anyone that wants a meet-up sometime Sat.?

Oh Gen... where are you cruising? Alaska? We've never been... and that is definitely on my list of places to go. So tell me... where all are you going? which cruise line?

We just returned from a 13 day Baltic cruise (which is why I couldn't do the Columbus show... we left on the 9th... and life was just too busy!!!) The cruise was wonderful. But we went 15 days without seeing night skies. Twilight skies at midnight were really strange. Even at 2:00 and 3:00 AM -- the skies weren' t really dark. I could live with they daylight ... but how do people live with the reverse in the winter.

We flew into Bergan,. Norway and it quite a few ports before arriving in St. Petersburg. (Copenhagen, Klaipeda, Stockholm, Gdansk, Riga, Talinn) It was really an awesome trip.

So tell me all about yours! Let me travel with you via cyberspace!

I don't imagine it will be as great as yours sounds. We're going with a group from our Senior Center. We'll go to Juneau, Skagway, Ketchican, and Victoria, BC. I chose the side excursions based my foot, which means not much walking. It's still giving me problems. I think the days will be awfully light most of the time from what I understand. I'm really looking forward to it. I've always wanted to see some of Alaska, so this sounded like the time to do so. Gen

Sounds like fun... and yes... be prepared for lots of daylight!

Can't wait to hear more about it when you get home!

I think you get to go to a pretty good quilt shop in Ketchican. We are planning a trip for next year or the year after when some friends that want to go can get away.

A cruise to Alaska is the only cruise I can get DH to consider.

Oh, we are arriving in Seattle on the 26th of July for a 7-day cruise to Alaska . We will be staying at the Edgewater on the 26th and then again on August 3rd and 4th (we want to see Seattle too). We will be doing Juneau, Skagway and Prince Rupert as our ports of call. This trip is to celebrate our 39th anniversary.

My husband spent the winter of 2006 in Copenhagen, Denmark, arrived on January 1 and departed on June 30 -- the l-o-o-o-o-n-g nights were quite a change for him, as were the winter temperatures (we live in Texas). When I went to visit in mid-March, it was similar to winters in Ohio when I was growing up and spring was coming -- snow was melting and a few hardy flowers were peeking through the snow.

Shoot, if my husband hadn't roped me into being the support person for his Seattle to Portland bicycle ride on the 14th, i'd be happy to meet with you. HOpe you enjoy your cruise, though!

Unfortunately Saturday doesn't really work for me either, my parents are arriving the next day, so I'll be running around like a headless chicken getting things ready. They are flying into Vancouver (they can't fly direct to Seattle, so when you add the times and costs together it makes more sense this way) so I've got that drive to look forward to!
