Sewing Machine Inventory

Just curious.... what machines do you sew on?

Don't count your collectors... but the 1 or 2 that you actively sew on? I wonder if there is any "consensus" or dominance as to make/model here...

I'll start:

I have 2 machines: Pfaff 2030 -- have used for years for all piecing and quilting

Pfaff 7570 -- bought to do embroidery -- but for now using it for piecing... to gain familiarity with it. Goal this year is to learn how to embroider.

The majority of my quilting goes to my long arm quilter in Minnesota.

Brother ULT2003D -- bought a few years ago for hooped embroidery; we need to get reacquainted

I have a Pfaff 2030 that I use for piecing and some quilting.

I have a Juki TL98Q that I have used for some quilting. I have a frame for it but I haven't had a chance to work with it yet.

Pfaff 2056 -- for piecing, quilting, sewing "things"

Janome 3018 -- for piecing "somewhere else" - either on retreat or in my studio, piecing quilt backings for customers

APQS Millennium -- for quilting (not so much for me anymore, but for others)

100% on a 70's white that was given to me. It's a real workhorse.

Bernina, Bernina and Bernina. There are some Pfaffs and Vikings in my lurid past but Bernina just goes better with my way of thinking. (Whatever that is.) Polly

The majority of my sewing is done on a Viking #1+. When I bought it, I thought I'd enjoy learning to embroider - but before that happened, I discovered quilting & embroidery has taken a seat in the waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back:)

I have 3 FW's, a black, a white & my newest baby, a tan. I take them to classes & sewing day with friends - they are light & I just LOVE them. If they could do a blind stitch, I'd probably use them exclusively.

Janome MC 5700 -- it's been my only machine until very recently. I've never used the hooped embroidery function because I couldn't afford the cards.

Pfaff 7570 -- just inherited. I'm slowly learning. Will have a lesson in how to use the embroidery functions in a few weeks. I'm finding I really like the way it handles for piecing and free motion too.

Babylock Embellisher -- just fun, fun, fun

Since I mostly lurk, I decided to answer your question. For Christmas this year my DH bought me a Janome 6600. That's been my sole machine lately, I relegated the Singer, Brother, and Kenmore to the basement. The only thing I wish it had is a stitch regulator. Other than that, it is my dream machine!

On another note, I have officially joined the ranks of the injured. Tonight I was trimming a patchwork denim quilt that I'm making for my DD and I rotary sliced my finger. Lots of blood, but managed not to get a drop on the quilt. Hubby took me to the ER and my finger got glued together. Much better than stitches. The only problem might be that the nurse put a band-aid on it and the glue wasn't dry. So the band-aid is glued to the cut. I'm home with instructions not to get it wet for at least 3 days, and my arm will be sore from the tetanus shot.\tomorrow. I'm conoling myself with chocolate chip/peanut butter cookies. Yum!

A Bernina 180 with embroidery unit. Back up machine is a Bernina 1130. I also have my grandmother's Singer 401A.

I have a ton of attachments, probably have the blind stitch attachment. Can it do a blanket stitch? Is it hard to figure out?

I only have one machine (am I the only one on this board with only one?). I have a Husqvarna Viking Designer II. I love it since I only quilt and do embroidery. I hate to sew.

Viking D1, Viking 6440, Viking Huskylock 905 (serger) ...Viking, Viking, Viking, UFF DA! ...and a 194? Singer that can zoom up a seam like a bat out of Hell.

I also have two beautiful treadles (White & Singer) that serve more as a plant stand and a night table than sewing.

I have been getting back to read a little of the ng lately so I thought I would answer this one.

Janome Memory 7 - nearly 30 years old, the last all metal and first computerised machine by Janome, wouldn't part with it for the world.

Janome 11000 - theoretically for my embroidery, but also has a nice sewing "feel" to it, but way too big and heavy to move around so more or less anchored to its own table

Also some spares (normally used by others in class) including a Husqvarna, another Janome and a Pfaff (can't remember what model but it has their wonderful diff feed system).

And tucked away waiting for a LONG trip to a specialist for repair is my beautiful vintage black-and-gold Singer (missing a small part of the bobbin shuttle I think?).

The Husqvarna and the spare Janome will be passed on shortly to one of the local church goodwill shops, and the Pfaff will be our class "spare". I am rationalising!! I do not NEED that many machines and others out there will be glad of them.

I have a Bernina 440--no embroidery piece though. I also have a Featherweight that I like to piece with.

I've had Vikings and Berninas since I "grew up." I like them both.
