I have four and use them all as listed below:

Featherweight - use it when demonstrating in public partly because it is easy to carry but also so new potential quilters don't think they must have a fancy new machine before starting. It is so cute is draws attention in public.

Viking Number one - the loaner that I allow others to use when they come to sew at my house. It also goes along to workshops as an extra machine. I leave it in the car until I notice someone needs it. Just last night a student arrived at class with all her necessary sewing equipment except her foot pedal!

Janome 9000 - the workhorse. I thought this one was worn-out. A local repair shop had tried three times and couldn't keep the tension even for more than a week of sewing. When I purchased the Bernina I left the Janome with their repairman and he fixed it. I continue to do all my piecing on the Janome. It is set-up all the time in the studio.

Bern>Just curious.... what machines do you sew on?

Janome 6500, purchased about 4 years ago, I love it. I also have an old workhorse basic Kenmore that I keep as a backup. When my friend comes over for a sewing session, she uses the Kenmore. It's great to be able to have two sewing stations set up at all times.

There is indeed a zig zag attachement which hooks onto the presser bar, which Singer made for it's straight-stitch only machines. It works by moving the fabric back and forth.

I have one of those, I got it for my 99K, but where it is I do not know. Probably inside the sewing machine box. Say I, suffering from overeating after celebrating my 72nd birthday yesterday. Shirley

I have a Bernina 1630 that when I am stateside is my work horse. I have a Bernina 180 which will be my european work horse and then I have a Viking SE which is a bummer I could not bring it, but boy is it fun!

I by the way at home I work two machines at once. One is embroidering and the other I am sewing on. My DH has walked in on more then one occasion and found two machines going and thought I was crazy.
