Sorta OT - Unveiling the new house

You asked for it, and it's finally here!

Photos of our new house. Now granted, the whole house isn't unpacked yet, but we've got a good start. Notice, there are no pictures of the three car garage? That's because the rest of the house is still out there in boxes! AAAaaarrrggghhhh!

I will post more photos to the album as Webshots allows (it's not playing nicely with me these days) and as we make more progress.

That is a lovely home! Be careful of that leather chair next to the fireplace. Of course, since you and I are in Texas, there aren't many days when you can use a fireplace. We redid our house in the spring, and one of the things we did was to have a tempered glass door put on the front & tempered glass panel on the side of the fireplace. Our fireplace is like a corner fireplace because it has an open front & side. The glass across the front has vents you can open or close which allows you to shut the glass door across the front.

Howdy!

Congrats, Tina! It's lovely.

Now, about that sewing room, over in the corner, in that middle container... .

I keep the large cutting mat behind the stairstep cabinet in the dining room, the smaller mat behind the barber's chest. Handy but out of sight. ;-D

Again, congratulations on your new home. Cheers!

Tina - if the clear glass shower makes you uncomfortable, you can get a frosted film to put over the glass ( on the outside), or you can buy window frosting 'stuff' ( very corrosive, I think) to do it to the glass itself.

What a gorgeous house! I'm so happy for you and your family. You are off to a really cool sewing room- you'll love having that cutting table.

but yes, it really is an awesome house! Not gloating or anything, but it is the most wonderful house I've ever lived in and it's such a "family house". Lots of kid space, lots of adult space, lots of family space and even space for DH and I to have space to call our own.

Sandy - not sure which container you are referring to? "Over in that corner" is DH's old plastic shelving unit, and every shelf is full of fabric! The tubs are all fabric, sorted by color pretty much. The top shelf is paper supplies, you know, rolls of freezer paper, Press N Seal, Ziploc bags that sort of stuff. The next shelf down is fabric/projects that are currently being worked on.

This weekend, DD swapped her full size bed for my queen size bed - so DS got her full size, and his twin went into the "sewing room" - Good deal for me, that leaves a guest bed in there (and a place for me to lounge and read quilting magazines or instructions) but even more important......it has an unbed drawer that pulls out and is now filled with the four tubs that are holding ongoing quilt projects and my extra cutting mats!

Sandy F. - YES, lots of bare walls - when I finally get to the photos boxes, I will finally have wonderful walls to make collages of my family and collages of my DH's professional photography work. I will focus on the flowers he has collected for me (on the kitchen walls) and the Texas scenery photos (for living room and study). And then I will wait for your lovely quilt contributions to show up and grace the other walls until I can get some quilts of my own completed!

Cathy - the shower does make me a wee bit self concious but I'm starting to get used to it. I just hang my towel over one side while I'm showering, the kids know that if the door is closed, it means "Stay Out" and DH and I have come to an "understanding" about voyeurism! LOL The only thing left is getting over the terror of seeing another person out of the corner of my eye.....that wall length mirror on the other side of the room, mixed with a glass shower....just gets kinda creepy sometimes. Not sure I'm more scared of thinking it's a stranger in my bathroom - or horror at seeing myself nude these days! YIKES!

Leslie - YES, I can't wait until the new table is finished! It won't take up any more space than the folding table I am using now, but it will be a solid top, a better height and it will be fully customized. He's such a sweet man! Almost as good as the hunky Mr. Collins eh?

Pat - I do love that master bath, glass shower and all. It's the first bathroom I've ever had where you can do everything in the bathroom (even get dressed in your walk in closet) and come out and face the world. I can actually SIT and do my morning routine. DH and I can actually get ready at the same time and not be in each other's way. It really is awesome.

And to Karen and everyone, thank you so much for sharing my new home with me. It has been great to already be able to share it with Jeanne and Pati - but I'm counting on hostessing as many RCTQ'ers as head through Texas! Next up, brownies and dinner for a RCTQ MAN! Whooo HOOOO

Hugs, Tina

What a lovely new home Tina, light and airy and so spacious - I do like high ceilings and big windows. And the pretty front garden with the new beds all planted.

I know you will be very happy there.

Beautiful, Tina! I can empathize with the boxes. You are much farther along with your unpacking than I am. Won't dare post photos yet :-)

Oh Sally, that's EXACTLY what sold me on this house the minute I walked through the front door! It was ALL so light and airy. It is a really "bright" house and it just makes me feel happy.

Sandi, the new home is in Katy, TX. Just West of Houston.

Thanks again and HUGS! Tina

I thought it might be you that recommended I check out the Kemah boardwalk. We enjoyed it so much we went back a second day.

Tina,

The house and grounds are beautiful. I love the door on the front and the privacy of the back yard and patio. A room just your own is also nice. I wish I had one but some day I will probably have an entire house just my own and I do not look forward to that at all.

Love the house, the entire house but that door just takes my breath away.

Howdy!

I like her style: I'm begging for some of that stash, whichever wall or corner or tub, and she's begging for quilts for the wall! Way to go, Tina!

*sniff* I'm so proud!
