That's how I clean out the freezer, which I did today. I'm now making big meals while I have some days off and freezing and labeling portions for when I need a "ready meal" for lunch at University or work. I feel like such a little squirrel with autumn just around the corner.

Oh Roberta, believe you me they won't hate you when you are gone. My mother had so much stuff that I use to tell her that when she died I was not going to bury her until everything was cleaned out. She would laugh and say well then I will be up forever. We still do not have everything gone through and probably neve will. But it isn't that important because the house is not going anywhere either so it will always be our home. If I decide to go through something today I call my sister's tell them what I am going to do and if they decide to come, then fine, if they decide not to come I put everything that goes in trash or to church for missions, in one box, then they go through it and what they want they take, what they don't want they carry out to wherever it goes. One rule, is if it is in that box it does not stay at my house.

Jacquel>Of course -that's the best way to clean cupboards! Mostly though it doesn't

Hmmm, Alice. Not too sure about the PODS thing. You could postpone or ignore a POD. If you move everything out of the sewing room into the other rooms in your home, that makes finishing the project quite urgent. I guess it would depend on how finely honed your level of procrastination is. Polly

But, I haven't packed it yet! I have to figure out when my co-worker is coming for the mattress set for her son, and Mom insists the bird's eye maple sleigh bed that was in there be given to our favorite antique furniture guy to sell. [I insisted on keeping the highboy and dresser for my own use.] The guest room has slowly been accululating lots of things that need to be re-allocated - I refuse to have my sewing room be the hang-out for all the old and assorted towels and sheets that DH insists are good drop clothes.

It will be a lot of trips up and down the stairs. Once I have figured out the way to do it, everytime I go up the stairs any time of day, I'll grab a canvas tote of something - books, fabric, etc.

And when you get ready to unpack your stash, I'll try to get over there! 'course, it's no l> And you didn't invite me to help you 'pack and move' your stash? > I'm crushed:(

When I get that far--it'll be time for you to take a few days 'off' :)

That is one of the few things I miss about all the moving we did with the Air Force! I used to sort through things before packing, and then sort again while unpacking! Now that we are retired and staying put, I have to remember to leave time to sort, organize and reduce stuff!

The term means those people who are "sandwiched" between generations they are caring for -- the children of the sandwichers are still at home, but the parents of the sandwichers need care, too.

A POD just wouldn't work for me. I'd need the whole storage facility, permanently. I have very refined procrastination skills. I'm a third generation pack rat too. My house has two storage buildings, a basement, and an attic. Mom still has things stored here, after all it was her house first. Debra in VA See my quilts at

Not to worry, Polly. The DH is "fiscally retentive" (read cheap) and would say "if you need to store it in a PODS, you have too much and you should get rid of it". Plus, he now parks "his" boat in "his" driveway so the only place for a PODS is in "my" driveway which would eliminate my ability to park in "my" garage. Plus, I have a very large guest room right next to my sewing room, so no carrying boxes and totes downstairs - safety first! Oh, and the money I save from renting the PODS I can spend on more fabric - when I'm ready, of course.

Polly, it also depends on the state of the other rooms in the house. Here in the desert, every room is piled with stuff that never quite got put into a proper place. Most of the books are on bookshelves, but......... And I really want to pull up this crappy carpet that is now over 20yrs old, and was cheap to begin with.
