Two questions - Bernina and Jill

I have a new Bernina 440QE coming in and will probably need some sympathy and hand-holding. Anyone here quilt with one? Also. I almost tossed away some quilt batting wrappers and remembered that our Jill needs the bar code symbols for her beloved animal rescue quilts. Do you remember what brand she needs? This is a test. This is only a test. If you need to speak with a live operator, remain on the line. Your call is important to us. Polly

I believe it's Hobbs. I used that almost exclusively but haven't found it here yet.

Welcome to the psychiatric hotline! If you are obsessive-compulsive, press 1 repeatedly. If you are co-dependent, please ask someone to press 2. If you have multiple personalities, please press 3, 4, 5 and

  1. If you are paranoid-delusional, we know who you are and what you want. Just stay on the line long enough for us to trace the call. If you are schizophrenic, listen carefully and a little voice will tell you which number to press. If you are manic-depressive, it doesn't matter which number you press, no one will answer.

Hobbs IIRC. You're gett>I have a new Bernina 440QE coming in and will probably need some sympathy

Roberta, just how in the world did you remember that 'press' stuff? Those recordings really set DH's hair on fire. I sort of like them. Robots are much easier for me to deal with than somebody that does not speak any language distinctly and would rather not be bothered anyway. The last time I upgraded the Berninas, we had a precious dealer here on rctq. I remember doing okay except there seemed to be no way the throat plates could be removed and I knew I had to. That was Therese in Colorado and I think I've kept her phone number. Polly

Hi Polly - I have the 440QE. The important thing to remember is that the BSR isn't a cure-all for FM woes. You still need to keep a fairly steady rhythm - no quick starts and stops. I also found that I had some difficulty with thicker seams and some types of fabric where it would just skip stitches. For stippling in small spots, I prefer not to use the BSR because the bulk of the foot interferes with visibility. I was, however, able to do beautiful feathers with it. After practicing the feathers with the BSR for a while, I was then able to do it without it.

Can't answer about the Bernina. Hobbs is the brand of batting that does a good deal for "charity" quilts.

I have a 440QE too. Just follow the instructions and you'll be thrilled.

Happy quilting,

I bought it out back behind the Pawn and Taxidermy Boutique. I'll probably need someone to come sit beside me and read the manual while I punch the buttons. That's how we learned computers; not a great way but that's just how it is. I found DH's list of words to use on things mildly described as 'some assembly required'. That may help. Polly

"Taria" Woohoo on the new machine Polly. I don't

Thank you, Linda and Lenore. I just needed someone to run to when I needed to know 'where is the?'.

Congratulations n the 440, Polly! I had one and loved it so much that I traded it in for a 630. That doesn't sound logical, but it made perfect sense to me. LOL! If it's got the embroidery module, I know nothing -- nothing at all. But the machine itself is very easy to use, and I love the BSR.
