You stack up a couple colors; slash through them in the "Italian Block" pattern, then mix/match the pieces. Half the blocks come out black on red; the other half is red on black. (at least in *my* color scheme). The lady on TV just used 2 fabrics; and carefully used only matching blocks on a quilt; making a 2nd quilt with the inverse. I'm just using every charasmatic red/purple in my stash and merrily mixing them together. I've got a great name for it -- Italian Wine. I've been (well, both of us actually) having a hard time sleeping. The up side is that I can whip a stack (4 blocks) together in the morning before I head off to work.susan kraterfield see my quilts: members.cox.net/kratersge
