Anyone feeling a scrapbooking slump?

Jun 20, 2008 18 Replies

I take pictures and take pictures, and I never seem to make the time to sit down and scrapbook them! I have several things I have started, papers and pics lined up to scrap and I dont know if I am in a slump, just too lazy, or I am just not feeling creative or what?!! I have been on vacation all week and I have done nothing but shop online for more stuff..lol I guess vacation IS for resting...:-) Even those three weeks of no computer, I got nothing done except a swap I was in for cards, and my CCC cards. I do need to get back on track! Anyone else feeling like this at all!?

Jumping up and down yelling "YES"

I printed a bunch of pictures for Sarah's album and don't want to scrap. I'm bad. I have the ATC swap looming and no motivation as I don't like em.

Yes, I'm feeling it too. Abby has been gone to her grandparents' all week and I was planning to get some scrapping done, but nothing has gotten done. I even have all of her ballet pictures to do but no motivation! Here is one of her recital pics...we are so proud of her!

I really feel like it too... I've been making my cards each month and not scrapbooking at all! I too, have been thinking I might need to make a challenge each month to get some actual scrapping done.

Right there with you! I just need to sit my butt down and do something. I don't know what my deal is. It is nice to know that I am not the only one.

My problem is a lack of pictures to scrap, my family runs the other way when they see a camera.

Well I am glad I am not the only one then! Thanks gals! :-) Maybe a challenge would be a good idea. Scout Lady, I'm with ya there on the picture taking. My family runs too, or hold their hand up in front of their face. I had to threaten them over vacation at my stepdaughters wedding! I said.."There WILL be picture taking..NO HANDS!" LOL

Linda asked if anyone was feeling a scrapbooking slump. For me it's been the opposite, with the help of some external motivation & self- imposed deadlines.

Years ago I thought of doing a scrapbook of my college years. Wanted to work on it with my best friend/former roommate, but after she died several years ago, I lost interest. Then, around Thanksgiving, I heard that a friend of ours from those days had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. I wanted to at least get pages done (digital) from the years we hung out together so he'd be able to share memories with his family. Alas, he only lived 3 weeks after I heard the diagnosis, so I didn't come close to making it. Have worked fairly steadily since (on all 5 years, not just the ones we hung out together) & finished several weeks ago (all 287 pages -- need to figure out what to do to make one more so it's even [since they're digital, the go in sheet protectors, so even means one page won't be a blank back]). Have been printing several copies since, to share with friend & another former roommate.

The other impetus is a trip to visit family starting next weekend. Am trying to finish up a first draft of an album of a foreign trip that my dad & uncle (both in their 80s) took a year ago. I didn't get the partially (very scanty, unfortunately) identified photos back from my dad until late winter, but was in the middle of my college project then. Have been trying to finish laying out & printing the pics & what little info I have to give him as a belated birthday present, & so I can get him & some others who made the trip to help identify who & what (I have their itinerary & the pics are dated, so I can get most of the when/where). 169 pages down & 150 photos to go. Eeek!!

And do I get a vacation from this while on my vacation? Of course not. I've asked family to bring photos for me to scan to add to the family archives. Am I nuts? YES!

OH yes i have been in a slump..i have been buying stuff but not working on anything and im mad at myself for it..haha i been inspired reading all your posts about this subject that im now printing out my photos i had sitting in my camera and then im going to scrap them..i know once i start going i will be impossible to stop..i love to scrap so why this slump? i dont know but im going to jump back in.. GOOD LUCK LADIES .. chatty cathy

I find that it comes and goes. When it comes I cannot be pulled out of my scrapbooking room and stay up all night, watch the sun come out, hear the birds chirp, and see the squirrels jump. those are happy days. :) But this past month, I too have been thinking, I've got to go scrap, and then.... nothing.

Interesting that we're all feeling it at the same time.

Alicia... GOOD FOR YOU!!

I haven't done any actual scrapping in forever. Done plenty of crafting & creating though. Lately I've been feeling like I really need to get some scrapping done. I'm semi-in the mood so I really should get started. i think I'll try to get a small crop organized in the next few weeks. Fingers crossed that it actually happens. Time just seems to be so hard to come by sometimes.

Oh, My! With projects like that when do you have time to sleep? Congratulations on being so motivated. They sound like fantastic projects. Sandy

Sleep? Darn! I knew I was forgetting something. Not sure how much rest I'll get on my "vacation", but plan on having at least a few quiet weekends after I return.

Just shipped them east today. Will have to buy the albums & assemble them when I arrive. A project is never done, huh? (Part of what I mailed are updates to a previous album.)

Alicia

Linda, I feel just as guilty. I've decided to try some time management. Plan a specific time that is just reserved for scrapping. And stick with it. Otherwise other stuff will always come in the way and you just keep putting it off :)

Me! Me! Me! Jumping up and down and waving. It looks like I'm in good company. Maybe it is just the time of year.

I've been in a really bad slump lately. I haven't scrapped for about three weeks and have only made three cards. About the only thing I've done is the ACT's for the swap and my cards for the CCC challenge. I've been spending a lot of time knitting instead of playing with paper.

I did a page a day in February, March, April and part of May and I think I burned myself out. Maybe in another week or so I'll feel like scrapping again.

CathyR

*jumping up and down waving madly* ME TOO! I think the last time I was scrapped was either Jan. or Feb....I think. I know it's been over 1 month, more than likely over 2 months. It just seems like forever. The kids were at my parents for 2 whole weeks, a wonderful opportunity for me to scrap. What did I do? Slept in, got ready for my monthly Stamp Club, held my monthly Stamp Club, did some light cleaning, and rearranged the furniture in my craft area. The furniture rearranging was last week, and I still have not gotten everything reorganized and put away like it should. Craft table? I have a craft table? COuldn't convince me of that, it's buried under craft stuff that hasn't been reorganzied and put away yet! LOL Of course, in my defense of that, I have been chaperoning 4 kids, 2 of which are mine, back and forth to Day Camp 4 days this week, yesterday was the last day. By the time we got home, all I wanted to do was a load of laundry and figure out what we were doing for supper. What am I doing today? Trying to stay awake so far. LOL However, I have tons of laundry to do, dishes to get done, pack for DS's sleep study tonight, and some work to do on VBS plans. I need some scrapping time!!
