Cool Album Idea

Last night DD's dance class, another mother brought in her CM photo box/organizer. Of course I pounced on the opportunity to talk scrapbooking. :-) She was making a family travel album. She had purchased these pretty titles for each of the 50 states. They were just gloss rectangle (1.5" x 4") cardstock, but they were nice. The idea is that as the family traveled through each state, they would use a picture or two to highlight the experience. The kids would then know to which states they had traveled.

I thought that was a cool idea. Makes me wish I've been to more states!

I've been collecting the Reminensce tags with the idea of making just such a book. I still need a bunch, So far, I've purchased: Alabama Arizona Arkansas Connecticut Delaware Florida Georgia Indiana Kentucky Michigan Mississippi Missouri New Jersey New York North Carolina Ohio Oklahoma Texas Utah

I also have the Canada one.

I guess I'm close to half way there! I just hope that I can buy the rest of them.

Neat idea.

I'm doing a travel album for dad (he's 85, but is traveling more than ever). Found one of those outline maps online like you use for school project (found it on a teacher's website). Luckily, it has both Canada & the U.S., since he ended up taking a 3-week trip all the way across Canada this summer after I started the album. On the cover I will use the map with all the states & provinces highlighted that he's visited. For each individual trip inside, I highlight the state or states covered during that particular trip.

Only have one trip done so far. You can see the cover for it here:

It's really easy on photoshop to click on each state & fill it with the desired color. You could do it with pens, too.

That is a cool idea! I wouldn't have very many pages in mine if I did that. LOL We seem to travel from here to NM and back. LOL That is a neat idea though.

For anyone who might be interested in doing these albums, this website has everything you need. (NO, I don't work for them! LOL)

I have ordered from them twice and have been very happy with both of my purchases. There's tons and tons of stuff here, that I haven't been able to find in our LSS's.

So where does one get these tags that ya'll are talking about? Of course I have a piece of paper from each state ALMOST :)) that I am trying to get a recognizable picture from each state to put on that page.

Love the idea and working on it too!!

The more I think about this one, the more I want to do it. We have a continual banter going back and forth about what states we've been too. What a good way to mark each off! Kathy

M-C have you checked out the Reminisce website lately? They have and exclusive travel tag offer. If you send them 30 empty travel tag packages, they will create a custom travel tag for you.

I loved looking at your Dad's album! What fun he had stopping at the hardware stores! LOL How wonderful it is that he's so active at his age!!! I hope I maintain my health the way he has to be able to enjoy life at his age. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Kenda! Just showed it to a co-worker from another office today. Hadn't looked at it in awhile myself.

Yes, he can (& does, when he can get to one) spend hours in them.

Think good thoughts Monday (midday, eastern), if you think of it. He has macular degeneration & had a "massive bleed" (per the eye doctor he saw today) in his right eye about 2 weeks ago. He's lost most of the vision in it at the moment. They're doing surgery (with anesthetic, so always a risk, especially at his age) on Monday with the hopes of saving up to 25% of his vision.

You're welcome. Thanks for looking!

This is a really good idea. Making a scrapbook on someone elses behalf would be the most lovely present!

I have been to nearly all the states............... of Australia ;) I've visited 6 out of our 7! lol. it would be awesome to have matching titles of each. I will have to keep an eye out :)
