Finally found time to upload parts of 2 more albums. There's one page in #4 as a placeholder till I find the CD that has the pages I want. Since I still hadn't heard of "digital scrapbooking" at the time I did this album (so didn't have others' layouts to give me ideas for mine), it's still pretty basic. I did create my own border for this one, using the last names of the families I was doing it for (dad came from a big family, & this was for the families of 2 of his siblings).
As soon as I find the other CD for album #5, I'll put the real cover up on webshots as well as add one more layout. I finally changed my format some for this one. I started using backgrounds behind the photos. Also, since the inspiration for it was the interviews done by my cousin, there's more text besides labels next to the photos. As a present to me the year before, she'd been going to visit my dad every few weeks, taking with her a tape recorder & a list of questions to ask about the family history. Then, for his 80th birthday, I combined her interviews & my family photos into an album for him.
Alicia, I love the surnames forming a border on the LO in Album 4. That fall picture is stunning! I love the way you captured all the seasons on that LO!
Album 5!! This is truly outstanding. Those are some of the best heritage LO's, I've seen. Not only because of the pictures and layout, which are wonderful, but also because of the story being told. I think your work will be appreciated by many in the years to come.
Those are great Alicia! The names for a border is such a great idea. I love album #5. All the stories behind the pictures just help complete the album. Great heritage album there!
I loved looking at your heritage pages. The idea of scanning the letter for a page was great. Preserving not only the photos, but the history and stories from a family is indeed the purpose of scrapbooking. Thanks for sharing. Sandy

Thanks. I used it in a later album, too, made for another of dad's siblings.
Mother Nature liked to "show off" her different outfits in that area. LOL
:::blushing::: Thanks! I just wish I had kids to pass them on to. At least the general family history will be of interest to descendants of dad's siblings.

Thank you, Trish. Dad is my #1 fan. He has c>Those are great Alicia! The names for a border is such a great idea. I
Thanks, Deb. I have such a bad memory for the family stories that I have to write them down. LOL

Thank you, Sandy. I'll scan anything that will fit on my scanner! LOL. There are a couple of dad's letters in #5. Anyone ever heard of "v-mail" from WW II? The soldiers would write on a full-size sheet of paper, then it would be scanned & shrunk down to 4 1/4" x 5" so they weighed less (& they were limited to writing on one side of one sheet of paper); the airplanes could carry more mail in fewer trips that way. Thought of posting a layout with one of those on it, but didn't. In my travel album I scanned various "ephemera" (tickets, programs, even money). In my most recent album, I have a scan of the back of the family violin (it has an unusual marquetry scene on the back). Couldn't fit the painting on the scanner (unfortunately) so used a digital shot of a painting of the old family farmhouse (which I faded so it didn't overpower the rest of the page) as the background for some of the pages. I need to rescan an old blanket (made by an ancestor) -- um, not the whole blanket! LOL -- to use as background on other pages.
So, while my digital albums don't have 3-D items in them like you traditional scrappers can have, I still manage to include them some way or other. LOL
If anyone's interested in learning more about v-mail, I just looked it up. Now I know "how'd they do that?!" LOL

(Think I"ll have to print that off to include in the album of letters my dad wrote home from the war.) Here's a sample I found on the web (pretty much full size, so you can appreciate how difficult some of it was to read):

Thanks for looking, & for your feedback, everyone!
