What is the title? And what is baking? It looks good! Susan

The title means "to roast gently" = "anbraten". It's hard to read on the photo since the letters are not fixed, they are just hanging on the wire. And in the oven is the christmas goose. It's the traditional food for christmas (next to ducks).

Nice job on the first LO Susanne :o) Perhaps what you feel is missing is a little journalling!

Oh will my DH love that news! LOL So, can one buy a goose in the Mini Mal or Famila Center or Edeka? (those are the big chain stores in this area I can think of for groceries :D)

I might just have to get him something special for Christmas this year. I know our commissary carries rabbit... and I think i saw duck once. But haven't seen goose.

Susan, so excited for Christmas this year... it's new and so neat to think we'll be here for it :D

I don't know Famila Center. But Edeka or Mini Mal will probably have them. When it get's closer to Christmas most all supermakets will have them frosted. If you want a "fresh" one you might have to go to a farmer or a special shop or you go and ask in a butcher's shop.

For how long will you be in Germany?

Thanks Marilyn. I hid the journaling behind the behind the snowflake vellum. But I might have to change this.

I figured that you had earmarked that spot for your journalling ( didn't know that you had hidden it there already...LOL) but it may be throwing your eye out when you look at the page if it is permenantly hidden. Could you make a tag with the journalling on it and tuck it in there but leave some ribbon or fibers exposed? That would give a sense that there was something there but it was not necessarily for public viewing!!! Hope you understand what I mean and I haven't confused you more...LOL

The journaling does not necessarily need to be hidden. I just bought those Fiskars Texture Plates and thought I have to use them :) And I thought it would be a good idea to do it this way. But the tag idea isn't bad. I'll have to consider it. I just realised that nobody might find the journaling if it stays like it is right now...

I just bought those

Is that what you used to make the vellum? It is very pretty! I have looked at those Texture Plates and contemplated buying them but resisted, as I have the ShapeBoss and never use it....LOL

Yes, this is what I used. I don't have the ShapeBoss. I just bought the Plates and it worked out pretty well. I figured the only thing the shape boss does is hold the plate in place and I could do this myself. I'm wondering if those plates would work with the zip'e mate. But I think they are to wide. It's a little anoying to emboss all the snowflakes by hand but it looks pretty afterwards...

I don't know if they would work with a die cutter, like the Zipemate. I have a Sizzix, a SideKick and Quickutz but no Zipemate so can't help with that question :o( From memory, the plates are not that thick so I am wondering if the Sizzix might work with some sort of padding added! Oh Susanne....I feel an "enabling" purchase coming on....LOL Somebody...hide my credit card.......NOW!!!!

*lol* Those plates are not so expensive. You get 4 designs in one package. I paid about 7 Euro. I think this is ok. And the paper turns out real pretty :) By the way: The Zip'e Mate can also emboss. I haven't seen a sizzix yet in real life. But the Zip 'e mate is supposed to be the succesor of it. So it might be similar.

Susanne...I have used the embossing folders in the sizzix and they work well! I know the Zipemate seems to take dies from many manufacturers and embosses but there is just so much out there...you could spend, spend, spend and I do....LOL I think that Dave bought this machine a while back so he may be able to shed a bit of light on its capabilities for you :o)

Purchasing supplies is something I am trying to hold back on but have failed miserably.....LOL I have been out three times in less than a week buying more "must have" items! Kenda will be after me now.......ROFLMHO We have a company here beginning to produce our own scrapping supplies and they have a

180 page pack of paper on sale for £9.99....which is less than 6 pence a sheet. Most US branded papers sell here for around 60 pence or more so this was tremendous value! The paper in the pack is just lovely so I just had to have one....LOL Here is a link to view it but it is much nicer IRL :

I checked the docrafts website but they don't sell yet in Germany. Maybe in the future they will.

I think it looks good for your first layout. If I ever need to find more stuff to put on a page I might add die cuts or stickers or ribbon.

I think your first layout looks good. I find die cuts and stickers work great to add that missing piece to a layout.

It's a very nice layout Susanne. If you feel something is missing, what about playing around with some ribbon or fiber? Sometimes I feel something is missing on a layout, and some ribbon or fiber run across the layout does the trick.

I think it looks great! I agree that a little journaling would add to the LO, but I'm horrible at journaling myself!!! My very first LO is SOOO bad, I wouldn't dare post it because I'm afraid Dave the paper floosy would throw something at me for actually doing something like that to paper. Heehee!!

(Ducks from a paper ball attached to a string, so he gets his paper back :D)

Susan, to find ya a goose or duck, there usd to be a Feench caserne near Heidelberg there. if it is still there, yu can go therewih your id too. Their prices are cheaper than the economy. There is a Frenck kaserne in K-town about 2 hours west of you (by Ramstein.) the kaserne is right along the autobahn on the east side of town even. Otherwise find you a local farmer since you are out of town a bit and ask.

Speaking of the upcoming holiday season, ooohhh how I wish I could be there!! It was my favorite time of the year. Rothenburg of course has a big KrisKringle martket, the best known one is in Nuremburg, but Stuttgart has a nice one too. I was stationed the last time near Stuttgart.

Oh the French kaserne near you there ws where the NATO/Shape HQ is/was? I think i may be gone now as Shape moved to southside of Suttgart. Yes I still keep very up on what is there. I loved the country!!

If you get the opportunity one year, do a Christams exchange with a local family. They are arraganed usaully thru PAO or the family arts centers. It will be something you will always treasure and remember - BELIEVE ME!!!
