March 2008 CCC upload

I experiment first with trying to make a tag punch star. It turned out nice, but was pretty time consuming. So, I did just one.

Then I went on to another stamp set that Sandy reminded me I had. I wanted to use masking to make the stamp different colors. My first try was just green and red as I had forgotten I was to use a post-it note type adhesive to HOLD the mask in place. This one I did holding the mask with 8 fingers while stamping with 2. Yes, it was hard and I knew I was doing something wrong.

Then I moved on to the 3 colors once I started using actual post-it notes for my mask it worked great for a few cards, but the ink started to bleed through the mask. More experimenting is needed. It was really fun to do and I liked the look. I made 7 cards of the third type for a total of 9 cards. Yahoo! They can be seen as the first 3 cards in my Christmas Card Challenge album.

Great cards Lynne. I love the star punch tag. I haven't given that a try yet. Maybe I should :D It looks great on your card. The other cards are great too. I love all the flourishes and your masking turned out great. Fabulous job!

Did you find the tag star time consuming? I only made a few last Christmas because of the time involved. It sure turned out beautiful. Now I'm going to have to try the masking.

They're gorgeous Lynne! I love the tag star. I haven't done one of those yet, but now I'll have to try it. It does look time consuming, but to try it once would be worth it. Love the masking you did!

I can see why you only did one of the star ones. Very pretty but yikes the work! The stamped one turned out quite pretty! Barb:o)

Thank you Crystal. Have you seen the Tag Punch Star Technique on SCS? I have to admit the star looks really nice in person. The reason it took me longer is I only have one tag punch and some hand cutting needed to be done. If one has the 2 punches required so really cool things can be done with that technique.

The Tag Star was more time consuming for me because I don't have the 2 tag punches required for the technique. I have one tag punch, so some hand cutting was done. I wondered if having the 2 punches would be any faster. One can do some really beautiful things with tag punch stars.

Thank you Deb!

Definitely worth making at least one tag star. The reason it was more time consuming for me is I don't have the 2 tag punches required. I only have one, so some hand cutting was necessary. I wonder if one has the 2 punches if it saved much time. As one has to line them all up, glue them all down and snip them into a star. Definitely doing it at least ONE time though. They are beautiful.

Lynne, I really like that tag punch star! It looks so cool! I had to search for the directions on how to make it even though I dont have the SU Punches. I wonder if my sizzix tag dies would work> I might experiment! I also liked your masking.I want to play some more and learn more about it! I don't have any SU wheels..that is a really cool background! I totally agree with you that its more fun to make a bunch of different cards each month! Linda

I have both punches, but it really started hurting my hand after a while to punch them out. If I remember right I only made around five of the cards for Christmas. Sandy

I can't find the original directions I used for some reason, but this one is pretty good too.
