Newbie from Kirkland Wa....With a Question

Hi to everyone!

I am new to this site...and have been scrapping since March. I am just wondering if most of you work on one scrapbook at a time, and complete it...or do you have alot of them on the go?

I am working on one from our time in Ottawa, Ont...one from our time here in Kirkland Wa, and have just finished a calendar for my parents for Christmas. I have all the things I need to start a wedding album.

My work area is in total chaos, but I find that when I see a layout I like, at least one of my albums will accomodate it.

Oh, also if there are any scrappers in my area, I would love to hear from you. I am new to the area and would love to meet new scrapper friends.

Cheers!

Hi Mystic,

I'm in Bothell and would love to get to know you. I have many albums I'm working on at once...

  1. Finishing up my 12-year-olds baby book that needed redone because I'd used magnet albums at the time of his birth and the acid damage was visibly terrifying.

  1. An album of travel... when I was 13 my mother and I drove across the country and then at 14 I spent a month traveling in Mexico with my mother, and then, as an adult, I have traveled to Europe and China so there's so much to do in that book!

  2. I have a School Days album for my son's schooling pics.

  1. I have a heritage album (it's the second in a series) of my great grandmother's life... the first album started in 1905 and went to her being about 10 years old.

Which album I work depends upon my mood. I've very close to finishing my son's baby album so I've been concentrating on that of late.

My email is happymiss2003 at yahoo... email me. Others from RCS in our area are Jessica and Helen... we used to have Alex but I'm not sure she's still on the website.

Welcome to RCS :o) I live in the UK and just wanted to say hi! This is a great group of people and I am sure if you need help or have questions someone will have an answer for you. Regarding the scrapping process...I scrap when something inspires me......currently I have about five albums on the go but haven't scrapped for a few months. I make cards also and that has been my focus of late :o) I am also currently researching my ancestry with a view to scrapping whatever I find interesting. Since I have no photos the resultant LO's will have to be "assisted" using ephemera and journalling from my research findings. Look forward to seeing your work!

I have never completed an album except for minibooks and gift albums of an event like a wedding or shower, etc. I have 4 albums going for my children (3 are adults and I have a 4 year old) and I have 3 albums going for my grandbabies, and several abums for each of my nieces and nephews and Godchildren. I started an annual album in 2003 and I try to put all family events in order in them. I still don't have 2003 all scrapped but I have some pages scrapped for 2004, 2005, and 2006. I always tell the kids that their albums will be finished when I am dead because I just keep adding to them. I scrap whatever I feel like scrapping in no particular order.

First of all, WELCOME to RCS!

I am one of a few admitted Male Picture Placers -LOL!! and as far as you question, the only person in this group who may have a COMPLETED album per se, is our MUM (looking around cautiously) MC.

I have too many in the working phase. I tend to power layout or organize what goes with whatever pictures I run across so when I am motivated or pressured or inspired, I garb something and scrap it!!

Welcome again and hope you will stick around as we love sharing and even more so ENABLING - LOL!!

Hello,

Sorry not from your area, but thought I'd pop in with a hello.

I have several albums going and none of them I would say are done. 2 have the possibility of being done. They are my kid's baby albums. Since my kids are 12 and 15 the pictures are finite. It's just getting them all into their albums.

I would love to do a calendar! I say each year I'm going to and haven't yet.

Welcome to the group. I tend to jump around with my scrapping. If something strikes my fancy, I scrap that. I do have a couple of finished scrapbooks. They are from different trips that we have taken.

Welcome!

As Melissa in Seattle said, I am also from your general vicinity, I live in Shoreline, WA (Across Lake Washington to the West).

Did Melissa send you an invite to the stamp camp she's hosting next week?? We'd love to meet you if you can make it, it would be a great oppurtunity to meet you!

It would be great to meet you!

You've also found a great group of worldwide friends here on the newsgroup (RCS). It's a very fun, supportive and creative group of folks.

Welcome to the group! I don't do albums, I do LO's (layouts) and store them in acid free boxes. Some day I may have enough to put together an album. I currently have one album finished with 20+ years of Christmas and one with about that many years of Girl Scouts. But if you count the boxes as album projects, I have one for each of my five children, one for the grandchildren, one for heritage, cub scouts, girl scouts, and one for general family LO's. I too, have a box where I have been collecting paper, pictures and embellishments and sketches for the two wedding albums I need to do for the oldest two daughters. I'm from Southern Indiana, have five children, eight grand children, one DH, a cat and run a day care.

Thanks again for all the responses.

Jessica...I got in touch with Melissa thru e-mail. She mentioned getting together to go to some LSS's . Maybe you could join us as well. That would be fun! I e-mailed her back, but haven't heard anything yet. Dh and I have tentative plans for the 12th, but if anything changes, I will try to be there. My e-mail is mysticdeaka2009 at hotmail.com. Would love to hear from you!

Cheers Kim

Hi & Welcome to RCS! I definately have multiple albums at once. I currently have 4 albums that I'm working on. DD's first (who's now 8), DS's first (who's now 5), a memorial album to a furbaby, & my BOM (Book of Me). I'm in the gathering and planning stage of an album from our Mexico mission trip we took this past summer, so that will be another album to add to the works. Although, my plan is to have that album done before we go back summer 2007! I'm trying to get a baby album started for DH's cousin...baby due the end of this month. But at this moment, I'm working on 2 gift mini albums for my sis and SIL for Christmas. I'm focusing on them right now so I can have them ready to be mailed with other Christmas presents. I haven't even started my wedding album! LOL Not that I don't want to, but just haven't found the right items for it. I want it to be 'just so', you know?

My work area is in sort of chaos right now. If it's neat, that means I'm not doing anything. LOL But I've gotten in the habit of picking things up once I'm done with a LO or project. Helps me refocus my creativity when I've got a neat area again.

Oh...forgot that I have actually completed an album. :-) Of course, they were all gifts. LOL I've completed 3 paper bag albums for the kids' teachers. They go together so well, are fairly easy to do, and the teachers seem to love them. The only 12 x 12 album I've completed was an album for my parents. Of all the scrapping projects I've done, I'm most proud of that album. Mom and Dad both cried, so I did good. LOL

When I see everyone write about how much they have on the go...it makes me feel less guilty. Haha. I too have many pages on the go right now. Because I take just a few pictures of many different events..it is hard to do a themed album, so I think I will catagorize by year.

Of course there is my daughter's baby pics and my wedding. Will get to that eventually. My parents are coming to visit us in February, and I asked my Mom to bring my late grandmother's albums. I will scan as much as I can and do a "family" album. I have seen so many pretty "heritage" papers.

Keep the replies coming!

Cheers

Kim

Sandy,

You're so funny "Someday [you] mays have enough layouts for an album"... 20+ years of layouts sounds like you got enough for many albums... but do they make albums large enough? LOL.

You do amazing work, I wish it were in books for easy viewing to those who come to your home. Do they know how talented you are?

Thank you, Melissa. That was a nice "warm fuzzy" to read at 5 in the morning. The last time Dave was here he suggested I just put the pages in top load albums. That was I can re-arrange them as I need to later. At least they could be seen in an easier manner. Right now, when someone asks to see my albums I pull a box off the shelf - kind of looks "dorky" according to my DD. I think I will make that my vacation project. I close my daycare one time a year......the week between Christmas and New Years. The house is a wreck - I don't clean all week. We just bum around...some days we don't even get dressed. I will need to watch for a sale on albums.....JoAnn's has them for $2.99 the week before Christmas. Does anyne use the Jo-Ann Scrap Essentials Albums? I didn't know how good they were. Sandy
