Vent away... what's up?

wow Google is different today! I will have to adjust to its new look.:-)

Hi everyone..I wanted to share something that is going on with me lately. I have been trying to get a sore healed on my shin, that is taking forever and it has just gotten worse over the last couple of months. I finally went to the doctor for my yearly checkup, and had him take a look at it back in August, and have been being checked out thoroughly, he gave me the works!! Blood tests, a sonogram of my heart to check for why my leg swells and wont heal, venous doppler tests on my legs. GARSH!! as Dave would say...lol All blood tests have come back fine, other than being anemic. NO diabetes as of yet.My father is diabetic and I was really scared I was too..so far so good, but they want to keep an eye on it. Doc said it is a venus stasis ulcer, it is infected with a staph infection and it wasnt responding to oral antibiotics, so he sent me to the Wound care center for treatment, and I have to have two weeks of everyday IV antibiotics doses at the office. Well, Monday I went in for my first session, and after FIVE attempts at trying to get a vein..they had to put a heplock in my wrist. Since I have this "no-veins" problem, they suggested I get a Central Line put in my chest so I would not have to go through the trauma of getting stuck every day. Monday was awful..I almost fainted, I was so stressed out at all of it. They had to put me on oxygen for few minutes..very traumatic situation that day! Today was the day I had the Line put in. I had my dad come over from Peoria and he took me for the outpatient surgery it took to get it installed. I was in and out of the hospital in 5 hours. I am pretty sore in my collarbone area, but generally dont feel too bad. I just took a pain pill, and I am going to go lie down. I may not be here for a bit, it depends on how I feel.

Amanda, I will get your box out to you as SOON as I can possibly get to the post office. I have been rather stressed with all of these doc visits, being off work, and the surgery I had today, so don't give up on me...:-)

Keep me in your thoughts for quick healing!! Hopefully things will start getting better! Linda

Linda......don't worry about the box. I want you to focus on getting better. That can be a very scary ordeal. My MIL went through a really bad staff infection last year. If she'd waited any longer to go to the doctor, it would have killed her. She was taking some medications for arthritis that weakend her immune system, which is why her's was so serious. We're here if you need to vent anymore...I completely understand the frustrations. Get some rest and take it easy. We want you healthy!! Here's to a speedy recovery for you!!

Hugs, Amanda

Linda,

Sorry to hear all the trauma they put you through. I hope the leg heals fast and you can get back to feeling better. I'll keep you in my thoughts. Good news about all the other tests though

I hope you're feeling better today. I know all the tests aren't fun, but it's worth it to know what wrong. Staph infections aren't anything to play around with. So, follow doctor's orders, take care of yourself, and take it easy.

Linda I hope you are feeling better really soon. What an ordeal you have been through. Take care.

I hope everything goes well from here on in! I've got that same small vein problem, so I know how traumatic it is to be stuck again and again.Where the heck did you pick up a staph infection?

Big hugs, M-C
