HI.

Suzie's birthday is this weekend and although the party has been cancelled due to her husband's illness and he is not allowed to leave the nursing home. I want to give her the album but am second guessing myself.

Have any of you started to second guess yourself on the album you've made as a gift or am I just being nuts.

I finished the album last night (I didn't like how two pages turned out so I redid them) and it is sitting waiting for me to wrap it up. I'm going to work on her card later on after I get the courage to sort through my stickers and stamps.

My father says I'm fishing for compliments but I'm not I've got stage fright. Please god tell me that you guys briefly go through this.

Larry and Beth (DH & DS) both say I'm terrified of cutting the apron strings as I'm letting my child go. Which is probably true.

Help, Kate

I think it looks good Kate. I'm sure she'll love it! Barb:o)

Yes, I 2nd guess and worry about whether people will like my items too. Having others look at it is a great way to make one feel better.

You've nothing to worry about it's gorgeous. She's going to love it.

Lynne

It's a beautiful album and she is going to love receiving such an awesome gift.

Kate, Your album is beautiful. She is going to love it. I did a similar album one time (though mine was smaller in comparison to yours) and when I gave it she did a cursory look through and laid it aside. I was crushed and embarrassed like I had given a homemade gift when I should have gone out and spent money for something better. (we all know how much time and money is involved, but not scrappers have no idea) She called me later that night crying to tell me how much she loved it, and said she had not wanted to look at it in front of everyone else because she knew she could not maintain control and needed to digest the album in private. Your album is a gift from your heart and soul. Give it with all of your love. It will be appreciated.

My mother had the same reaction to an album my sister and I had made for her. It was disheartening to see it put aside, but she actually loved it ... just couldn't bear to look at it right then, with other people around.

It is a beautiful album.

G> Kate,

You know I kind of forgot that aspect of giving a gift album. Once opened it gets a "that's nice" and set aside. Me, I want them to sit and look through it, but really in the middle of gift giving one doesn't have the time. It's later when they've had their cake and time to look at the album that they come up to you to tell you how much they love the album.

Lynne

I am sure she will be completely overwhelmed by your beautiful album and just love you even more for working so hard putting it together! You did a fine job! Linda

I think you should definetly give it to her. It looks great and she will love it. And I know what you mean about giving something away that you worked really hard on. It's difficult. But just think of how happy she will feel to get it. And since it's digital you can always print one off yourself. Let us know how it goes.

I've always felt this way, and its nice to know that its pretty common. Everything I do like this, be it scrapbooks or when I quilted more-quilts, I stress and stress over it. Until I give it, that is, than my experience has been more like the others, particularly with scrapbooks. The ones I've given to my parents they have barely looked at in my presence, however I hear from the siblings they are pulled out for every visitor. Cracks me up.

I think I understood it best one of the last times I saw the movie City Slickers. Its the bringing in the herd mentality. There really isn't anything like bringing in the herd, and in a sense, that is what you have done. Once the herd hits the end, its all over. When I give up a quilt, I almost go through a grieving process with it. But, for something that has (like my current one) over 3000 pieces, its hard to let go. Think about your scrapbook the same way.

Kathy

a-scrapbook> HI.

Kate, you really should give it to her, because it will give her so much joy! It looks fabulous and I can understand that you might feel a bit sad to part from it after putting in all of that hard work, but her appreciation will make up for it over and over again.

Is it a digital or conventional album? I though it was conventional when I looked through it, but one of the responses sounded like it was digital. Either way - it looks very good!
