First LO of 2007!

I know, I hear the shock in your voices, but yes, I've already completed a LO. It's in Elizabeth's album, the last photo. It's of Fall Fest 2006. The pictures seemed kind of dark, due to a shadow, so I used a silver gel pen to highlight around DD and to add words that described her. Unfortunately, all the words don't show up. I tried taking a picture of the LO, but they still don't show up well, etc. The LO does look alot better in real life, but I wanted to share it with you anyways.

Awesome layout! When I read that you used silver gel pen on the photo I thought eeek! and thought of my very first layouts that are hideous. You of course made it work well and it looks spectacular. Jacqui

This is the first time I saw this album of yours, everything is very nice and I'm sure she will cherish it always.

I also did my first lo of 2007 although it is a digital one (I'm determined not to make a scrapping mess until I get the rest of the Christmas stuff put away). We started 2007 with my son in the hospital but he is doing fine now and on the mend. (Yes this is the vacuum boy LOL)

ok I think I found the one you mean, I didnt read thru your post very carefully! I really like the title block, how you made it look like stamps. I like how you used the silver pen right on the photo. I will pull out all my scrap stuff as soon as I get my tree and all the decorations put away so I have some room to work! You are putting me to shame!!

Thanks Cathy. Those are from a sticker sheet. But for the life of me, I can't remember where they came from. Either the Holiday Embellishment Box or Hobby Lobby...one of the two. I have this vague memory of looking at clearances Halloween stickers at Hobby Lobby, but I can't remember if I bought them. LOL

Thanks Jacqui! I actually got the idea from Scrapbook Answers. One of their issues had an article about doodling and included doodling on photos. I had an extra photo of DD in that costume, and I used it to practice on, to find the right color of gel pen. I kind of wanted white, but it just wouldn't show up well, so I went with the silver. It really does look better in person. LOL

Thanks for the compliments. The LOs in the online album are actually two different albums. Her baby one is a spiral bound album from Wal Mart, about

10 x 10 I guess. The rest are 12 x 12. She was very excited to have another LO for her scrapbook, though. :-)

Love the LO of your son and his broken arm. I'm glad he's ok! Not the best way to spend New Years, but at least he's ok.

The letters on the title block are stickers and they're cut to look like stamps. I'm slightly addicted to ABC stickers. LOL I wasn't sure about the pen on the photo, but I'm glad I did it. I've never used a pen on a photo before, so this was totally different for me. Plus, my titles tend to be vertical or horizontal strips, so using a block was out of my comfort zone, too.

Ooops! I forgot to tell you all that the LO was part of the 8 1/2 x 11 Rainbow Kit swap we did last year. This was MC's kit. All I added was a piece of orange striped paper (TLC if I remember right), ABC stickers for the title, and the tag on the title block. I still have a few good chunks of the black cardstock, most of the fiber, and several brads left. I'm either going to go back and add a tag in the bottom right corner noting the kit from MC/Rainbow Swap, or write it on the back of the LO. One or the other!

Car accident on the Saturday before New Years. The air bag deployed and broke his arm in 3 places, the Dr. said they call it an air bag fracture. Other than a broken arm and lots of airbag dust in his eye he is doing okay. They said they were going to operate on Saturday and admitted him and then they said they were going to operate in the morning....then at 7pm on Sunday evening they said first thing Monday. I was pretty ticked off about that since they kept him NPO since Saturday and they promised to get a food tray on Sunday when they cancelled the surgery again but a tray never came. I went to KFC and he inhaled 3 mashed potato bowls. The car is totalled but he owes less on the car then the book value so he will be able to get a new car once the cast is off.
