OT: sort of

The scrapbook store near me has closed up. I dropped my son off at his store which was close by and he said he could do his shopping and meet me at mine before I was done shopping. I hurried over and though the big sign was up the store was completely empty! The only scrapbook supplies I have close now is Michael's and they are pretty generic these days.

The good news is a Big Lots opened up close. I was just there 2 days ago and they had some Martha Stewart things on sale that I had been wanting, but didn't want to pay the high price for. More good news in September a large Joanne's is opening up close by.

Even though the scrapbook store was closed it did force me to dig into my stash and be a little more creative with the swap I needed to get done.

I would be devastated if the LSS I frequent closed. It's 22 miles from home and the closest place to buy the latest supplies. Joann's is great for tools, brads and adhesives and the DCWV stacks when they have a sale. Our Michael's is so generic also, I hardly ever go in there anymore especially since I have to drive an hour to get to either of them. My DD#1 lives closer to Big Lots and calls me when they get in anything different. aren't cell phone wonderful......she calls me from the store and describes what they have and brings me my order.

That's too bad about your LSS closing. I feel your "pain"! LOL Our HL closed this year in my town and the only thing left here is Walmart, or drive 30 miles to Michaels or Joannes. So I too, have been utilizing my stash for any cards or projects I want to make!

Lynne, that sucks. I know how you feel. My closest lss is 20 mins away and I only get over there a couple times a yr. I can't imagine if I pulled in and it was gone. I used to work around the corner from Archivers so it was easy to just run over there and use my free paper coupons. Now most of them go in the trash. 8-( You'll like Joanns, especially if it's a big one. I agree that Micheals just isn't that good anymore. I seldom even stop if I'm around one.

Linda, I can't believe your Hobby Lobby closed. They're not just relocating? Ours in Olathe moved into a bigger store some yrs back. Losing a HL is truly devastating, for a sber or crafter anyway.

It's always a bummer when a scrapbook store closes down. And that you did not make it for the closing down sale at least. Glad to hear that there is a few new stores opening in your visinity soon though :)
