That is great, Marilyn! You are so talented. One question, though- Did you cut the papers to fit the metal edging, or remove the edging, put the papers on, then put it back on? If you did all that with the edging on the tin, then you've got way more skill than I have- I'd make a mess every time. Beautiful work. I can't wait to see the rest of them!

Mel...it is a breeze to do.....the only thing I removed was the lid and the handle. The edges don't come off...the tin is sort of pressed similar to car bodies! I just cut my paper to fit in the parts that were originally painted (see original tin in the same album) and I run the paper all through the xyron 900. I sanded the tin and applied the acrylic paint, a few coats. When the paint was dry I applied all the paper pieces, rub-ons, stickers, embellishments and applied a coat of Diamond Glaze over the whole lot. No different to doing a LO really except for the coat of Diamond Glaze :o)

Decided then I didn't like the paint finish (too bright for paper), so I applied Versamark inkpad and Kettle Copper embossing powder and used the heat gun on it. Nice...duller...more antiqued feel to it!!!!!! I knew the embossing powder worked because I had already embossed the metal fixings for the handle, which were silver originally. Re-assembled the lid and handle and attached my series of grosgrain ribbon, twill ribbon and softer fibers and attached dangly bits. The leather tag came from my DH's new work boots (LOL) which I peirced and applies the flower brad on one side and a leaf die-cut, surrounded with some verdegris embossing powder on the other to hide the brad pins.

Glad you like the finished tin....now to find a use for it!

Looks wonderful. I like the colors. Do you sand the area where you apply the paper? I had trouble with a tin I did a while back. The paper peeled on the edges even though I had run mine through the xyron. I ended up having to use the orange double stick tape to get it to stay. I had only sanded where I was applying paint. The other tins were fine, just one I had problems with. I was wondering what you were going to use it for. Sandy

I sanded everything Sandy....LOL I only painted the edges of the tin, then ended up using embossing powder on them. Did you seal your tin once you had finished it? Most folks seem to use something like Mod Podge and that helps to ensure that nothing come away. I did make sue that I sanded the painted bits well since I was going to put paper on them. Maybe that was your problem last time! If in doubt....sand it!!!! Not sure what use it will get put to....maybe storage....maybe something like photos or something...dunno!

Thanks, Marilyn! I hadn't thought of embossing powder. It gives it a very nice effect, neater than metallic paint. I like the idea of sealing it with Diamond Glaze, too. I have used Mod Podge with good results before, but I would think the Glaze would give a shinier finish. As for uses, add a coordinating shoulder strap, and you have a wonderful, unique handbag!

Very pretty Marilyn. I love the charms, ribbons and flower hanging from the handle. What are you going to use it for?

I destroyed a tin trying to alter it. I even bought the acrylic templates to cut around the hardware. I ran the paper through the xyron but I couldn't get it perfectly straight and when I tried to remove the paper it ripped. Maybe I had a perm cartridge in it.

After seeing yours I think I'll give it a try again.

Cathy.....I see a lot of folks use Mod Podge for the whole task. That may solve your "getting things straight" issues :o) It would allow some slippage time at the glueing stage. I am going to try it for my next tin because the xyron does grap quick! My xyron 900 came with permanent cartridge...so no second guessing....hahahaha
