*pout* Okay NOT going home for Christmas...

Well if any of you are watching tv... you see that giant storm that is sitting over me? so far we have gotten 10 inches... and they are projecting 5-10 more... we went to the grocery store.. I had shoveled.. came back and there were 3 more inches.. in that amount of time... every county around me is a level 3 snow emergency so i couldn't go anywhere anyways... UGH. All the gifts are wrapped for my mom and dad... I spent extra time on one of the presents.... we didn't put up a tree or anything and now we are stuck here... UGH. A part of me wants to put up the tree but another part of me is like, are you crazy? for two days? There isn't anything to go under it anyways, all my presents are in PA....

Grrrr... okay sorry to grumble, I was just so looking forward to a family visit... they are calling for even colder and wetter in the next few days... and even western pa got hit.. it took us 30 minutes to go 6 miles... could you imagine 400?

I definitely need to go to bed... nite y'all... spend a good cozy nite with your family.... At least I got hubby.. maybe I'll make it a date nite... hrm......

*BIG hugs* I'm so sorry Jean. I can handle a few inches of snow, but 15-20 is just too much. Hmmm...how many cans of deicer would it take to melt 20 inches of snow? :-) Don't feel bad about taking 30 minutes to go 6 miles. It took DH over 1 1/2 hours to get home, and it's only a 5 mile drive. Go curl up with your hubby and stay warm. We can't have our favorite pro photographer freeze! :-)

I'm so sorry. Can you perhaps just postpone your trip and go in a few days?

I don't know how things will go for us. They really aren't set up here for the snow they've gotten and it looks like it will be under snow or is that over snow for half of our 500 mile trip. We have to go through Memphis and then start south. So we're atually driving northeast first. We may have to postpone for a day or two.

It's always amusing to see how everyone panics with the first sign of snow here! I was at work and we put chains oon the firetrucks. Took us 10 minutes to get to a house fire last night.....we were second alarm.

Took me only 30 minutes to get home this morning....glad I had chains! Put 'em on and started out, sloow...didn't have any problems.

For those of you that are traveling in this winter storm, be careful and be smart about your driving.

We really panic about snow around here. No one knows how to drive in it. If they go up to the foot hills where it occasionally snows its pure chaos. Fortunately, my parents live in a lower part of the foot hills so snow seldom arrives there. BUT if it does come in the town above them I can drive in the back way and miss the snow all together. Not something the kids appreciate, but I didn't either when I was little. I lived in a lot of snow states when I was a kid. I remember my dad purposely spinning the car on the snowy icy roads. It was scary and fun at the same time.

Hope it clears up enough for you to get a visit with family.

We got 22+ inches here with some drifts as deep as 3 feet. The most snow I've seen since 1978. I guess I'm lucky my family all live close by. Both of my older DD's are 22 miles away, my DS is 45 miles south and my Mom is three blocks away. So much for never leaving home...... I hope everything works out for your trip....just give it a few days to settle down and travel will be back to normal. I'm sure your parents will treasure the time you do get with them even if it is not as long. I'd rather hold off Christmas for a few days till the weather breaks rather than pace the floor and worry about any of my kids and grandkids on the road. Curl up and keep warm....... LOL I think that every one gets excited here ,too. We ended up with 8 to

10 inches with a lot of ice and sleet tossed in there, too.Parts of Indiana got 22 and 30 inches. (Just across the river from us) It is beautiful and the sky is blue today with bright sunshine. However we have temps in the single digits and it will probably stay white here until next week. The roads are very bad right now...just the main arteries and the interstates are clear. They are encouraging only key people be out and about. Lots of fender-benders and sliding off the roads, But it is so neat to see how everyone just jumps out of their cars and pushes people out of ditches and stuff. Merry Christmas everybody!!!!

Lynne, Thanks for the memory. My dad, too, used to spin the car around on the ice. My mother would act scared to death and my sister and I would roar with laughter and beg him to do it again. Of course, my uncle and dad used to pull us behind the car on our sleds with the warning to keep our feet up so we could stop ourselves with the bumper and not slide under the car. Probably all of that would be a cause for a call to social services today about child endangerment. Thank you for bringing those fun times back in my mind. Merry Christmas.

I saw some of that storm on the news here in Australia. I guess its what you call a really white Christmas, a somewhat strange event to us Down Under. The weather people predict a hot day tomorrow (Christmas Day), might be nice to go to the beach.

Merry Christmas everyone, and I hope your storm will allow you to visit your loved ones safely.
