thrify ideas for scrapping

I am looking for your thrify ideas for scrapping.... I'm sure we all have some. I want to get a little collection of ideas together. A few ideas I already have is... tic tac boxes hold eyelets, glitter and beads and lock shut to go to crops... the foam around pop dots can be used to make shaker boxes, so can the plastic we take off stickers to open them...I know there is more. I can't think of them right now. Any ideas welcome.

I will have to think (kinda hard to think you know).... Here a few.

1) Cut the back out of the mats. You really only need the paper around the outside. 2) I have been known to cut the photo square tabs (glue) in half to make it last longer. 3) Magic mesh is just colored dry wall tape. You can get the dry wall tape at any hardware store and color it yourself with chalk. 4) Always save scraps... you can always use the left over paper on something else.

Thanks Donna... I had forgotten about the cookie cutters! : )

That is all I can think of for the moment.

Just remembered.... I had found this on Two Peas a while back. They have 5 pages worth of frugal ideas.

I always cut up the rest of the sheet that's left when I have used all my dimensional dots. You can't see that it isn't a dot behind the image so why not use the whole sheet?

Thanks for posting this Tammy...I picked up some great ideas to try out.

I also have a question to put out there to those who have used drywall tape as magic mesh----> there was a post on that thread stating that several peas had found that it had warped on them. I have only used it once in a two-page layout and it has yet to warp on me...I finished the layout about 6 months ago and was wondering if it was a problem that occurred over that time period or ???? So I guess what I'm trying to ask is: Has ANYBODY had any problems with using drywall tape????

Okay, here's my thrifty tip. I use the photo tabs/splits that come in a box w/ the blue peel off back instead of something like the hermafix tab dispenser. I cut the tabs in two, sometimes in three. This way they go way farther than the ones in a dispenser. You don't really need THAT much adhesive. I even cut the tiny tabs in half when I'm doing pping.

Donna,

I haven't had a problem with the dry wall tape but I did the layout fairly recently.
