where's the journalling?

There is the odd time when you do only have one or two pictures and using a single bib picture makes more of an impact. I only had 3 pictures of my son and his new car and I did want to give it a lot of emphasis. So I used those 3 pictures on 2 12x12 pages. I do agree with you on the journalling , otherwise all we have is a nicely embellished photo album.

I agree with both of ya, journaling is the only way the story gets told when you are gone. That is why I pretty much stopped watching QVC a while ago. Not to mention they rarely did anything for 12x12, and I have almost all of the CM tools, so there is nothing I need from that. I know it is sad. I get almost everything from CM though, except maybe paper.

Hi Everyone! I'm unlurking for this one. I actually have something to say today.

I agree with all of you too about the journaling and designer layouts. I noticed from reading some of the scrapbooking BLOGS that they do consider themselves artists. The trend to make a layout without any thought just ART. Art Journals seem to be big right now. The way I see it , the magazines and designers have to keep it fresh and they must come up with new trends. It's like the fashion world almost. Be careful of using last years paper! LOL! Anyways, The Mags, books and ideas are there for inspiration so we get to eat it all up and take what we like from them. I love getting new mags I read them up so quick and suck it all in. Just love them. It's cool that we have so many ideas out there but when it comes down to creating our own layout there is no wrong way. We can make a layout with one picture or 10, we can use journaling or not, we can leave it plain or make so the background paper doesn't show. All that matters Is that we created it from our heart. But I still think journaling is important.

Side note: Mel isn't it cool that CM now has 12x12? I'm glad they changed their minds. The papers are pretty too. They are doing good. Next time I go to a workshop I need to bring lots of money. My list of CM stuff I want is growing. I just miss my old CMC (she moved) , she always had all of the product on hand. So it was fun to scrap and shop at the same time. My new CMC is very nice but I need to know what I want before I go.

All right, back to journalling:

I totallly agree with you all 100% regarding the need to tell our stories. Not just for the generations to follow but for our own children who may not remember the stories depicted in the images. However, I am also someone who has a difficult time journalling, usually I only have a few notes of interest, not the actually "story." I am hoping that with practice I will have more to say within my scrapbooks/phot albums.
