Need help finding items for baby rattle and mobile

I would be leery of using one because you don't want an egg that would break easily - like if someone were to step on it - and leave sharp edges. It seems to me that the plastic used for rattles is very thick and strong. The eggs I've seen are thin and brittle.

Thanks all, I will look into that. Not sure if there are any farm products shops here in Tucson, but I'll see what I can find. I could use an easter egg if they make them 1" in diameter. That seems kinda small. Plus I am not sure where to find easter eggs off season. I may have to wait until next year.

You might want to try Michael's or AC Moore to find the plastic eggs...

Michael's wouldn't be carrying the fillable kind this time of year; however, we do carry some little plastic eggs on picks that are about 1" in diameter. These are year round in the aisle with the fake fruits and the grapevine wreaths, right along with the little tiny craft birds. I'm wondering why you would need one only an 1" diameter, though. That sounds kind of dangerous ( as in choking hazard? ) I have seen the "apron clip" somewhere in a catalog--it's a curved piece of plastic that will expand to fit around your waist. You're supposed to sew a casing in the top of your fabric and slide it on for an instant apron. They've been around for years. Sorry I can't remember where I saw them. Barbara

Thanks for all the help. The reason I need 1" is because it will go inside something stuffed. Either a stuffed cube or bunny or something to make it rattle. My friend said he bought a stuffed cube with a rattle in it and his son loves it, so I wanted to make some for other people. I would hope that the baby would not be able to rip it apart and get the ball out. If anyone thinks differently, please let me know. I dont have any kids.

I will check into the website below and look around at Michaels. I did call Michaels and was told that they didn't carry anything that would work for me. But I will go there and look around.

I have used film canisters for that. You could also use empty prescription bottles, most likely, but I like the film canisters better.
