Stoopid Old Lady Tricks!

I picked up my brother and sister-in-law today at the airport. They drove over here three weeks ago, and I drove them to the airport (in their car), then brought their car back here and parked it in the driveway. This morning I vacuumed it out, washed all the windows inside, then ran it through a car-wash. I was buttering up my brother so he would help me get a big "Featherstone" rock out of the back of my car. ;-}

Well... I got in my car to pull it out into the driveway, and slammed two fingers of my left hand in the door. OUCH! I don't think I've done that since I was about 8 years old. All fingers seem to be able to wiggle just fine, but it's sore! I'm soaking it in ice water.

How stooopid.... :-(

James did that. PROBABLY 'broke' a finger or so, but the hospital said at the time that as the bones were still mostly cartelege at that age in fingers (he was six), there wasn't much point in either x-raying them (nothing would show) or doing anything more than strapping the two together for a week.

He was struggling with crutches at the time, with a leg in plaster after breaking an ankle out walking with his dad... He seems to have recovered well from both incidents. Here's hoping you do too!

Well, tonight's report isn't quite so optimistic. My middle finder is very swollen and sore at the last joint, and I can hardly stand to move it. I may just see about getting an X-ray tomorrow.

Beverly, still trying to figure out how I did that....

At 71 I think my bones may be just a bit more brittle. I've been icing the two fingers which caught the worst of it, but I'm pretty sore tonight, and the middle finger won't bend much.

Thanks, and wow, I'm just very glad I'm not on crutches, I doubt I could manage.

Kids are very resilient and fast to heal. I put it down to all those growth hormones sloshing about! Mind you, that was the time he was famous for going through six plaster casts in six weeks and getting trench foot!

The older we get the less bounce-back we get... :( get those fingers x'd and see what they say. I'm hoping it IS just bruising.

I took a thumb to A&E one Friday evening: we thought it might be broken. Turned out to be a massive one-joint flare of the fibro!

Eeeewwww!

I am going in for more physical therapy today for my neck and shoulders after a was rear ended a month ago. I wasn't able to do a couple the stretching exercises he recommended yesterday or today (it entails pulling on a Theraband to flex my shoulders, I coudn't grib the band), so maybe he'll send me for an X-ray.

Bette Davis said it best. ;-}

Actually, it's a good thing. When your brother sees that you were injured cleaning HIS car, he'll feel so guilty he'll just have to get the rock out for you. Be sure to moan quietly now and then and look pitiful.

Umm, no actually, I was injured in MY OWN car. But he did feel grateful for the work I did on his car, and helped me get the landscaping rock out of my car.

We talked today, neither of us can figure out exactly how I managed to close the driver-side door and smash my left hand (I'm in the USA) in the top of the doorjamb. It was a peculiar accident to say the least. I had to reach over with my right hand to release the door, because it actually closed enough to latch even with two fingers smooshed in the jamb. ;-}
