use of embroidery foot attachment question ?

I own the a Janome Memory craft 5000. I have purchased insulated pot-holders. I am folding the pot-holder in 1/2 width wide. I want to attach the folded pot holder to a terry cloth Christmas printed kitchen towel. The amount of fabric of both, the folded pot holder and kitchen towel, is too thick to sew under the presser foot. Would the embroidery foot attachment work ? I have never used a embroidery foot attachment, but am considering purchasing one for this use? I am interested in all suggestions/input . Thanks in advance to all.

It won't, or at least shouldn't give you any more clearance under the foot. However the smaller design may help a bit. Most home machine will not handle thickness more the 1/4 inch.

Sometimes the quickest way to sew something is by hand. I suspect that this is a case in point.

Sometimes one can sew a thick fabric with spaced backstitch, which can make stitches one third as long as the minimum dip through the fabric, but I suspect that in this case you will have to resort to pushing the needle down and bringing it back up in separate operations.
