I'm trying to get reversible dresses , dungarees and trousers cut out, that's my professional hat!! yes I do make soft hats as well.
I have 2 sofa covers half done as I have to for a first fit tomorrow. What I am really interested in though is having a trail run of my new draft of a larger (2 year old) Tutu pattern which I have cut out but didn't get get chance to stitch yesterday evening. Hope I get chance today. If I stop taking tea breaks and reading forums and news groups I might stand a chance!! LOL
1 purple wool Justaucorps (Needs the sleeves cutting and making up. Most of the body is done. Su and I cut it, I've sewn it all so far)
1 navy wool waistcoat (cut, and the back and lining is made up. I cut and made the lining, we cut the front together)
1 navy wool culottes/divided skirt (cut out. Su and I cut this together)
1 linen shirt (completed, made entirely by Su: she is the Shirt Fairy! I need to get up to speed on shirts)
1 pair of gentlemen's breeches (cut, with outer and lining made up and put together. The waistband needs finishing on the inside [I think]. And the knee bands need putting on. Then it's buttons and buttonholes... I cut the lining and made that up, we cut the velvet together, and I cut the brocade of the pleats. I made up the pockets. Su made the outer and is putting them together. We may fight over who DOESN'T make the buttonholes! :D) Kilt: Partly pleated. Evening gown: pattern cut, need to make toile for Tuesday...
Personal: Lady Prudences Jacket: this just needs the body lining putting in and the buttons and buttonholes doing.
We need everything except the evening gown toile completed by Wednesday evening. The toile is for Tuesday... Morning!
And then there is three different types of tiffin, a madeira or seed cake, and a bunch of fairy cakes to make to take with us for the event next weekend...
That sounds like plenty at once. I have never quite dared to try fitted soft furnishings, cushions and throws are my limit so far. I know what you mean about tea breaks & computers - I do the same. Also today I have to sort the clean laundry before starting in on sewing-for-pleasure.
Yesterday was my first proper sewing day since finishing Kate's HUG quilt and a quilt for my Dad back in June, and I had to do that in little snatches of time when I could get into the sewing room which doubled as a guest room for 4 months.
It was a productive day and I put together the top of a table runner (needs sandwiching & quilting today) and made 140 half-square triangle units for another quilt for my Dad to alternate with the one he has on his bed in the hospital.
When you finish up would you lie to come on east to SC and help me do some of the same? Reese would welcome Yogi for company to play with! Barbara in SC
I'm making progress on moving three units of barkdust. For our European sewists, that's ground up tree-bark used to top-dress garden beds. My DGS was supposed to get it all moved this summer, but then had to take summer Spanish classes so there this huge pile sat, IN MY DRIVEWAY. Happily, the young boy across the street took pity, and came over to help me. We almost finished to day, but it's getting too hot. Yeah, I know high 90s isn't hot to a lot of you, but here is BROILING.
Next week I'm planning on making a purple cloak of Malden Polartec® for my sister. She has one she adores, I have taken measurements and intend to replicate it(with a few improvements, of course).
And I've fused the bits for the waistcoat and culottes. I've also cut and made up the justaucorps sleeves, but not put them on. I'm going to pin them in place this evening, after eating strawberries and cream!
As usual I have several irons in the fire at once.
Am finishing up my third stretchy fabric top, having made a pattern out of another top that I cut apart. I've got three more to cut and sew up. Tomorrow I will also be cutting out fabric for a long sleeve shirt.
I'm also in the middle of putting together a baby quilt and a table runner, both are gifts.
And, DS left off a large curtain panel that he would like shortened and hemmed.
Yesterday I cut out a pair of linen drawers to wear under summer dresses. I added two inches (for a ruffle) to my cycling-knickers pattern -- but left the hip pockets.
Found some pink rickrack, and plan to use it for hem tape, on the right side.
Robb, the little dress is gorgeous, especially the floral with puffed sleeves. Unfortunately, the site does not say which is B or D, but all are perfect for little girls.
You'll need LOTS of space to support the fabric, both before it gets to the machine and after for the gazebo. Look out for UV resistant fabrics. I think more are more readily available to you on your side of the ditch than ours... ;)
