Well, I think I found the cause of the "screaming" bandsaw. Following everyone's advice (or at least process of elimination), I took things off. When I had the upper blade guide unit off, the noise stopped. Not just backing off the guides, but removing the shield and that whole post along the back.
I believe that post where you raise the blade guides is not the greatest design. It's round with a flat surface for the set screw to sit for tightening. It's impossible to have it exactly aligned with the blade and it "crawled" as I used the saw. So, what I think was the guides were, indeed, rubbing.
Guess my machinist is going to get a call about making a post with a groove so there will be no room for the set screw (not sure if that's the right term for the handle thingy) to be able to move.
You think I'm right?
