Is Everyone Gone For The Weekend?

Haven't seen a new post from this group since one (and only one) yesterday morning.

Just wanted to mention that there is a great benefit auction going on over at Woodcentral, with some very nice pieces being donated to raise money for Katrina reflief.

You're not here alone Fred.............I'll get the lights. We're not going anywhere for the holiday..........we're conserving gasoline! Heck it's not hard with the stuff at $3.09 per gallon!

Thanks for being here, Barry. With all that has gone on this past week, the tragedy and heartbreak that we have seen, I guess that I have started to look at what is important in my life, and high among that is friends and family. I don't post much here, but I visit everyday, and consider it to be very much like a visit with old friends.

That said, I too hate the price of gas, will conserve gas so that I have gas for the chainsaw! But even so, we are so richly blessed compared to the folks in Katrina's path.

Yes, it has been a tough week on a number of fronts, especially the storm aftermath. I posted the following on another NG right after Katrina hit New Orleans. It sort of sums up my feelings.

"We all have so much to be thankful for. I filled up with gas last night.......cost me $2.99 per gallon, but I was able to buy enough gas to fill up the Jeep with no problem. And there was no line. I had a nice supper tonight at my mother- in-law's and shared a couple of hours with my family. I went to work today. It wasn't such a special day, but I'm thankful I have a job to go to. I'm at home now....watching TV with my wife of 34 years. We're dry. We have electric power. We have AC. We have running water.........hot and cold. No, I don't plan to take a shower tonight.....but I could if I wanted to. When I lie down to sleep tonight.......I won't be kept awake to the sounds of 40,000+ roommates....many crying in anguish and despair. There are so many tonight in New Orleans, Mississippi and Alabama who don't have any of those things that we so often take for granted. They may not even know where their family members are. Let's all thank God for what we have tonight and say a special prayer for all of the storm victims and the relief workers, police, National Guard and others who are working to provide for their needs."

Have a good week.

Nope, but I worked almost 100 hours last week & this weekend (what a way to celebrate Labor Day, eh?) No way of knowing what the long term effects of the hurricane will be, so I've been working on getting everyone around here ready for a cold winter. Lots of reglazing, caulking and insulating going on. Laid in an extra couple of hundred bucks on from an ongoing side job as well (office remodel), to make sure I can still get to work every day.

Time for a nap, then back at it.
