(pics in ABPW if interested) We took our 2nd trip into Sequoia National forest this weekend..
Improvements this trip, learned from 1st adventure:
Bought a really cute Stihl 14" chain saw... we beat ourselves to death last weekend with bow saws..
Filled the gas tank in the truck in town for $1.45 a gallon, as opposed to the gun & mask prices up in the mountains..
Left the maps in the glove box and used the laptop with the GPS program..
We left at about 8 am, back at about 2 ph, including about an hour drive each way.. there was about 100 times as much fallen wood as we could possibly harvest, but while most folks were going for firewood, we were kind of picky.. Mainly looking for turning blanks and type of wood that I haven't used yet..
Brought back about 1/4 cord, I guess... found 2 interesting trees, a sequoia and a ponderosa pine... brought back sections ranging from 9" to 14"....
Can't wait to go back again!!
(I'm a lumberjack, and I'm ok???)
