it was $2.80 a gallon last month... that's for "regular" unleaded..

we're using the "middle" one.. 89 octane... that's what the guy at the saw shop told us to use.. also using the little containers of oil, made to mix with a gallon of gas for the proper 50:1 mix... 2 stroke has come a long way since I last had one!

Up here we mix 30:1 in blackfly season....

Regular is still about $3US a US gallon in my part of BC. OUCH!

Mac, All of the loggers that I have talked to (there are a lot of them here in Oregon), the saw shop where I bought my Husky, and the factory rep from Sthil who did a chainsaw safety demo for our club said to use premion grade gas. Gas degrades fairly quickly, and if you don't use is up within a month, and don't use a stabilizer, it is bad for your saw. If it has been since last summer, the gas should be thrown out. robo hippy

Great bug control. Does it do any harm to the saw?

Good point, thanks... I'll definitely keep that in mind..

One of the reasons that I paid a few cents extra to get the 2 cycle oil in the "gallon mix" size is that we have a tiny tank on the chain saw and I don't want to pre-mix more than a gallon at a time.. If I have any left in the can at the end of our trips to the woods, I'll pass it on to a neighbor with a weed eater..

If the chain saw is like either of our trucks, it would run a lot better on your gas than on the crap that they call gas in Calif..
