Re: Mushroom Video

Hope you like it. It is fun playing with the camera.

Darrell, Windows Media Player doesn't know what to make of it, but RealPlayer handled it just fine.

There are several options to play this on WMP. Once you have unbundled the iso either to a CD or your hard drive you can:

  1. Right click the AVISEQ01.DAT and select 'open with' from the menu and choose WMP as program to play it.
  2. Or, Change the file name to a '.avi ' and then WMP will play it - I changed it to mushroom.avi
  3. Or, assign .DAT file types to WMP and then double click the .DAT file. This down from file browser by selecting Tools/Folder Options/FIle Types, finding the DAT file type in the list, select 'open with' CHANGE option and assign to WMP. WARNING: if you do this if may affect other programs if they have .DAT file that you open with a double click otherwise no problem. DAT files are currently assigned to Notepad on my system so I changed it.

Actually, the disk is encoded as a VideoCD, a distant precursor to the DVD format. The .dat file is an encoded MPEG1 video, and should be renamed with an MPG extention.

I personally wouldn't install RealPlayer if they paid me. ;-) Media Player Classic is a winner, however, and my primary utility player.
