Best yarn for consistant dye lots?

Dec 07, 2006 2 Replies

Hi all,

I'm crocheting an afghan and the gauge swatch came out fine, but now I realize the final dimensions are going to be a quite a bit smaller than I'd like, so I'd like to add a few more rows. Unfortuantely, I purchased only enough yarn (Plymouth Encore Knitting Worsted) to complete the pattern as written. Now I need to buy more yarn. If I can't get a good match, I will just make the afghan as per the pattern.

Which yarns, in your experiences, differ the least and/or most in their different dye lots?

Thanks, Andie

Usually with most acrylic/acrylic blends dye lots don't differ that much. My solution would be to work alternate rows from two different dye lots if there is a slight color difference. DA

you could get a complementary color and do a border all around, and not worry about matching. Just a thought.
