lana grossa yarns

Dec 07, 2006 4 Replies

Hi I have found a beautiful pattern in a knitting magazine using lana grossa kidlana yarn. I am unfortunately allergic to any wool. Does anyone know of an alternative??? The tension is 17 stitches and 31 rows to 10cm on 5mm (uk) needles. The yarn length for 25grams is 125m. If anyone has any suggestions i would be very grateful. Thankyou Aly

This is worsted weight yarn, like Patons Canadiana or Bernat Berella 4. You may have to adjust the needle size for the correct tension. DA

I'd call it a heavy worsted weight, more like Aran weight, but since many non-woollen yarns weigh more than wool, you may want to knit regular worsted weight or even DK at the same tension.

There is a book coming out soon - "No Sheep For You" - that is all about knitting with non-woolen yarns and substituting them in patterns written for wool!

It's not due out until April of NEXT year!!!!!! Waaaaa!
