Welcome Lori - my crochet hooks are in an old embroidered glasses case, so I'd like to see what you come up with. Joan

Hi, Lori! I'm *usually* one of the, if the THE first to welcome newbies to RCTY, and I apologize for my tardiness! WELCOME! Noreen, former 'flat-lander'(Illinoisian), former Wisconsinite (notice I do not refer to myself as former 'cheesehead'~ cheeseheads are GayBayPecker fans, imho) and now a middle Tennesseean.

Hi Lori, and welcome, this is interesting, and looks like you are going to be busy designing for your potters wheel. A yarn holder or keeper would be great in a ceramic or pottery type of thing, I've never seen an iron one though, but remember, and still have some in plastic, shaped like beehives if I'm thinking along the right lines that is, they were made of bakelite mostly I think. However going back to you firing one, I did once a few years back read on here that one of our ladies actually used a flower pot upturned onto a flower pot saucer/plate so obviously what you have in mind would definately work..

A scarf would be good to start off again on the loom, maybe you could fire some small bits of clay as beads and do some beaded edges or a table runner with the same.

Needle holders would be good too I think, like a pen box/vase I use an old tube that once had round crackers in it, so have this long tub thingy that holds my longer needles in it, so a ceramic one of some kind would be very pretty, especially if sold as a set with a yarn holder..

LOL at Els, you'll have her working flat out at this rate...

I like the idea too, and all I can imagine is the same idea as is used in plastic to hold pens sort of a collection of tubes all stuck together but in this case the plastic ones are moulded. so you have different heights and widths.

whatever it sounds very pretty especially if painted up as well...lovely...can't wait to see some pics.

If you were doing a group of tubes that were somehow stuck together, they could sit in a base with a rim...saucer type... that could then hold pins and row counters tape measure etc.

or am I imagining something different altogether...lol no I'm not, just read the last paragraph again, this is what I was thinking of, all the tubes and a saucer on the bottom all made up as one piece, and the saucer would have a rim on it, it could even have arms from the tubes to the rim, to make compartments couldn't it, for the tapes and scissors pins etc. Yes the same as the desk tidies for offices.. next a book stand table top type like a lecturn, or a kitchen iron one that holds cookery books, one in pottery, with a cord and a dec piece of pottery on the end, that would when the book or pattern is placed on the bookstand/lecturn, come over and hold the page open or in place...just a flat decorative holey type of thing with a lip or rim, attached to a small base stand....pretty..

I'll shut up here or I'll have you designing all sorts you had no intentions of doing before..lol.

cheers.....Cher
